Belief is that if they sell Dbacks would be willing to pay down — perhaps by 10M/year — the 80M remaining on Greinke through 2021, depending the return of course. Greinke remains a top starter, but wIth 15-team no-trade list and belief he prefers to stay, deal not overly likely.

6 games out of the 2ND WC but 2nd best run differential behind Arizona for that spot. Now they need to win some and this 3 game skid has hurt, but I think they could make a run for it
Yes they could but the odds are against them for just a WC. The smarter play is to trade a rental and think 2020 when they could be legit division title contenders.

. A rival exec says as much to MLB Network’s Jon Heyman (Twitter link), while Andy Martino of SNY.tv reports that top Giants trade candidates Will Smith and Madison Bumgarner simply aren’t available at this point in time. Presumably, the same holds true for all or most of the team’s many other trade candidates, no shortage of whom featured on MLBTR’s latest ranking.

Possibly, but because he is a rental and not an ace but a depth piece they may not get as much, therefore, maker it better to hold onto him and try for it

Greinke
Definitely on the Astros radar for the right salary structure. Astros are not on his no trade list so that helps.

Mets righty Zack Wheeler got back on the mound today, as MLB.com’s Anthony DiComo was among those to report on Twitter. Though he only threw 13 pitches, and did so from the slope of the mound rather than the rubber, it’s a notable sign for a significant potential New York trade chip.

Well lemme empty the prospect bank.

Stroman is really the most attractive pitcher on the market

Unless Thor is available and I'm not expecting that he will be

Indians are 3 games back of the Twins. I'd guess Tyler Bauer is firmly off the block at this point.

The Philadelphia Phillies have acquired right-handed pitcher Mike Morin from the Minnesota Twins in exchange for cash considerations, the team announced. Seranthony Dominguez was transferred to the 60-day injured list to make room for Morin on the 40-man roster.

Hear that for star lefty Matthew Boyd the Tigers at least in some cases are asking teams for an established young MLB star — not just prospects. Don’t think they get it but know: It’s a sellers market, Boyd has big K/BB rate (6.67, tops in AL) and 3 more years before free agency

I'm sure Tyler Bauer is off the block but Trevor Bauer is probably still on it.

With our cheap arse owners I wouldn't be so sure

According to hearsay purveyed by the MLB Network’s Jon Heyman, the Tigers have been indicating to interested teams that they will be seeking an “established young MLB star” in any potential deal involving starter Matthew Boyd(Twitter link).

Back in June, MLB.com’s Jason Beck conveyed that the Tigers were seeking a package in return for Boydsimilar to the one the White Sox received in the 2017 Jose Quintana trade – a deal that saw the Cubs part with Eloy Jimenez, Dylan Cease, and two other prospects in exchange for a decidedly unsexy middle-of-the-rotation arm.
