Orioles still alive on Bud Norris. Giants looking "doubtful," one source says.

Who would y'all expect in return if Baltimore is the team?

Maybe someone can explain to me a little better how that works......

The second he hits the roster (not even playing, just on the 40-man) his clock starts.

Once a player has accumulated like 2 years and 128 days of service time (the "Super Two") he's arbitration eligible, which will put him in line for a significant pay raise.

By keeping him marinating in the minors they can keep control of him longer.

Better Explanation Here

Reports this morning have indicated that the Orioles are still in on Bud Norris, who is controllable through 2015 via arbitration. Norris has been one of the most talked about players leading up to this season's deadline. Here's the latest on the 28-year-old...

He'll probably get dealt away and start tonight vs. Houston.

Rosenthal says it's close to being done with the Orioles. For LJ Hoes.

Those numbers certainly look encouraging. Not bad for a 5th starter.

Seems like another OF with a good plate approach but no real power or speed.

I don't know anything about Hoes, but those numbers you posted have to make Astros fans smile.

Yeah, noticed the power part.

He'll come in and take Maxwell's spot.

LJ Hoes is near-MLB ready outfielder who gets downgraded only because he probably won't get much better than he is today. Other than a power shortage, he's pretty much what you want to see in a prospect just leaving his teenaged years: good bat speed and good raw mechanics at the plate (despite an unusual late load) and all-around athleticism in the field. He's a contact hitter still, but the bat speed and solid fundamentals still point to possible power developing somewhere down the road, though he's running out of time to show it.

Not a bad get. The thing you have to remember about looking at the O's organizational rankings is that their farm is in the bottom third and the skill really drops off after bundy and gausman. With that said, thats a little more than i expected them to get for norris. Good trade astros.

Looks like maybe one more last push from the pirates for nate. But looks like, fortunately, he's staying.

Rosenthal made a good point that the O's got a hell of a haul in Norris, Feldman and K-Rod without giving up a top prospect. Good to see them making smart moves over there. Props to Duquette.
