I'd be pretty disappointed if we gave up those 3 without an agreed extension.
I'd think that package could land a starter with a couple years of control.
yeah, if you told me we were trading those guys and asked me to guess if miller or chapman was coming back, i would say Miller
if no chapman extension - "im not mad, just disappointed"

are you really upset at the thought of losing Warren or McKinney? McKinney is likely the 4th or 5th best OF in the system at the moment.

Short answer, no. Long answer, I would have hoped that the Cubs could have pulled something else from the Yankees, but in all honesty Warren and McKinney aren't very valuable to the Cubs.
Which, in retrospect, makes you question the Castro trade valuation. A little...the Cubs did parlay that into Aroldis Chapman, but still.

Just heard at Turimex Chicago Station:

Castro is who we thought he was. He's fricking terrible.
ETA: should note he has hit well in Yankee stadium. Still, but frick him.

Warren or McKinney do nothing for me.
Torres is a steep price for a rental, but like you said, once I see Chapman throwing lasers I'm not gonna care.
But when you look at the entirety of the situation, and how much we ahead we are b/c of selling rentals, at some point we had to be on the other end.

Reds got Rookie Davis, Eric Jagielo, Tony Renda and Caleb Cotham for Chapman, and the Yankees got Torres, McKinney, and Warren, and another dude for him, with one less year of control.
frick me, man.
frick me, man.

i definitely get what your saying. We have such a surplus though, its nuts. The Cubs are at a point where they dont even have to spend carefully, esp for a known commodity like Chapman.
Consider all our great MLB regulars who are 26 and under. Then look up and down the farm. They are stacked. They almost have to sell some of these minor leaguers because they would never likely even play for the big club as it is.

That's why you don't sell him right after he fires the warning shots.

Reds FO is a collection of goddamn idiots.
Meanwhile, Bruce and Cozart's values will never be higher and those motherfrickers are sitting on their hands.

I hope that fruit dealer sells the team soon, he's entering old senile owner mode.

if the Yankees made a package to get Sale, they've have nothing left in their farm system. Its top heavy with like 2-3 guys. that would be a total yankee move for sure
agreed, but they'd have sale for the next 3-4 years.
