The Cubs got offered Pomeranz for Baez and turned it down. They were trying to flip Pomeranz to someone else for a mystery cost controlled young starter.
Yes, and I would be okay with giving up Baez for a young, controlled pitcher (depending on who that is, but names were Gausman, Gray, etc.).

This would likely be the best bullpen guy the Cubs have had since ive followed them.

He's no Rod Beck or Sweaty Joe.

honestly i think they are envisioning a Carl Edwards/Chapman/Rondon 7th/8th/9th

Just curious, what makes you think they use Chapman as the setup man?

I'll just mention it here, but there might not be any connection to the Cubs...Yankees have been pushing an Ivan Nova trade.

As a Yankee fan, have to wonder if this accelerates a potential deal for Miller (Nats, Indians, others)

#Yankees plan is deal Chapman, play next 4-5 days, see if make inroads in race. If so, will go for it. If not, Miller, Beltran, etc in play

Rondon has thrown really well, they may not want to move him & risk messing with him.

Also, Chapman is left-handed so you might want him to be more flexible to matchup here and there.

if the Yankees made a package to get Sale, they've have nothing left in their farm system. Its top heavy with like 2-3 guys. that would be a total yankee move for sure

Aroldis Chapman is now a Cub, with the #Cubs sending Torres, McKinney, Warren and one more player to #Yankees, per @JonHeyman

What are the odds Chapman throws another pitch in a Yankees uniform? <10%? Asking cause they're in Houston

id rather they see how the rest of the season goes anyway. you dont have to extend him right this minute. See his worth, make sure he stays out of trouble, then re-visit.

Gleyber is the centerpiece. Warren had success for the Yanks, but when they traded him to the Cubs he performed like a slightly skinnier Trevor Cahill. McKinney is a corner outfielder that has less than ideal power but is otherwise a pretty good player. Playa Tubenamed is a guy that hits a ton, strikes out a ton, gets on base a bunch, and has ears that would make Adam Dunn blush.

SS Gleyber Torres--possible #1 Cubs prospect and top 30 MLB prospect, 19 years old, the centerpiece of the trade.

Adam Warren was a Yankee last year and years before...he was in the Starlin Castro trade.

OF Billy McKinney--acquired in the Addison Russell for Jeff Samadrzija/Jason Hammel trade, McKinney was a top prospect until a knee injury last year and has had a rough go for about a year now. Fell in the prospect rankings.
