Yankees should go get Leake. I wouldn't be upset with shipping Phillips with him.

I wouldn't mind Leake and Phillips as Phillips upgrade 2B and Leake helps the rotation. I just don't want the Yankees to overpay for a player who is a FA. Especially since Leake isn't an ace or a #2. So in the postseason would he realistically get a start over Tanaka, Pineda, Nova, or Eovaldi if they are all healthy?

@Ken_Rosenthal: Potential free agents for #Padres include Upton, Kennedy, Venable, Benoit. Kimbrel still very much in play. Many moving, connected parts.
The real Ken this time.

I expected Padres to make a deal by now

Was the 2nd best SP on the market today other than Price. Leake's got some of the best numbers the last month in the MLB
Leake?
The padres are shopping 3 pitchers better than him alone.

Yea, I don't know what they're waiting for.

Yeah, I wasn't sold on that 2nd best SP on the market comment either.
However, Leake will be cheaper than those three Padres pitchers, he's consistent, and he never gets hurt. He's probably a little underrated due to his low K rate.

Ross, Cashner, and Shields?
Plus we still have several arms on the market. Cleveland is willing to talk about Carrasco and Bauer, Oakland has Chavez, Texas Gallardo, Brewers with Fiers.

Correct. His ability to stay healthy and eat up innings adds to his value though.

Yeah and same point I made earlier applies, if post season started and Tanaka, Pineda, Eovaldi, and Nova are healthy does he start over one of them? I don't think so, so I hope Yankees don't overpay for him. I would like him and Phillips since Phillips is a big upgrade at 2B and Leake provides depth in the rotation but he may be a #4/5 fighting with CC. (Leake should start over CC)

Castro in the lineup for the Cubs.

I'd start Leake over Eovaldi for sure, and depending on how he's pitching, Nova as well.

Bryant isn't.
He gone.

Nova has been good but coming back from TJ, I think Yankees stick with him.

I'd like to see him do it longer than 3-4 starts before I start crowning him. His WHIP for the season was in the 1.50 range the last time I looked. Thats horrible.
