MLB put this out earlier.

The sport definitely feels like its gaining some momentum for the first time in forever

Pitch clock has helped immensely. It’s a lot easier to watch now.

No doubt.

Super excited for the next few years.

What? Who didn't love seeing a pitcher adjust his hat 3 times, wipe sweat off his brow three times, step off and spit while adjusting his belt, then shake off the catcher three times before stepping back off the rubber?

That is interesting. All the additional fricking advertising has made me less inclined to watch. And it's only getting worse. It's a sad day when the most storied team in sports stoops to this level. Put that shite somewhere else in the stadium. Just leave the classy uniforms alone.

Nah, I'm over it. Lamenting over it now isn't going to change the past. I've been around long enough to remember Pendleton, Gilkey, Galarraga, Hill, Drew, and Jordan among others having career years after they left. No GM wins every trade.

If you think there’s a team in the MLB who’s going to pass on an easy extra income stream like this for any reason, you truly don’t understand professional sports or why they exist.

Hitters have just as much blame, IMO. Nomar made it cool to readjust all of their equipment in between every pitch.

It’s completely on brand for the Skankees
Everything wrong in baseball the last 20-30 years comes from the soulless, soiled organization
All they care about is profiteering and finding ways to remove any charm and character from the great sport of baseball in the name of profit
Look at their new bland piece of crap stadium that cost a billion dollars (back in 2008) to build. As much as I like to tease Braves fans about the battery being like a boring mall, I’ll admit that Truist and the surrounding area is way better than that mausoleum known as “Yankee Stadium”
It is sad, but sadly not surprising
As many Skankee fans opine since George died, Hal and Hank don’t care about winning the World Series as long as buckets of chicken fingers get sold

Then they should quit pretending to give a frick about tradition they've always trumpeted. Let the players wear their hair as long as they want. Break out new alternates. Put names on the back of the uniform.
There were much better alternatives to implement it. Put that shite up somewhere else in the stadium or telecasts. If someone is that bloody desperate, then I cringe thinking what's going to happen the next time there's another work stoppage.

Nothing they earn from it is going to change how they operate. They already can buy whatever they want from what they get now. They have always paraded about how much their "tradition" means. When all along it was nothing but a big lie.
It's true the sons don't care about winning as Papa Steinbrenner did. He would have fired Cashman 2 decades ago. When someone is worth that many billions, I'd care more about winning than pulling in a few extra checks from some shitty arse insurance company.

Couldn’t have said it better myself
This is why Mets and Red Sox fans unite (despite many NYM fans also being Jets fans and Sox fans being Pats fans) our mutual hatred for those sanctimonious pinstriped frauds

I don't even notice the ad on Boston's uniform 99% of the time anymore. It doesn't bother me at all. Yankees are getting something like $25M a year for that patch, they'd be stupid to turn down that money.

This part I do agree with. The hair and facial hair rules are silly today. I get why George did it back in the day and can make sense of it back in the 70's, 80's and even the 90's. But it's 2023 now and telling a baseball player making $30M a year what type of haircut to have is just silly. It's obviously not a deterrent for everyone, but it does come into consideration for some free agents for sure. I know McCutchen has spoken out about it in the past and recently Justin Turner said it was definitely something he thought about when he was a free agent this past offseason.

This isn't something you'll hear me complaining about.

They are a massive eyesore every time I see a player image reading something on an app or some other form of media. And it will still be there on all the player merchandise for those that are collectors. I still believe it could have been better implemented in some other forms, and still pulled in a high number. It's painfully apparent that no amount of money will ever be enough. And as soon as you give someone an inch, they'll always try to take a mile. And next year, it's coming over to helmets. At some point, enough is enough.

That's one way rich people stay rich. Turning down free money just isn't smart no matter what.
$100 isn't going to help me much in the grand scheme of things, but if somebody said they'd give me a one hundred dollar bill if I wore a Geico sticker on the sleeve of my shirt for the rest of the day then i'd be wearing a Geico sticker on the sleeve of my shirt for the rest of the day.
Posted on 7/13/23 at 10:35 am to Chadaristic
But that $100 means a lot more to the average person than someone worth billions that pretends to value all their fake "our tradition is so sacred it can never be changed" bullshite that won't be used to change how the team operates. When opening day rolls around next year, they'll have the same payroll they have now.
And there were numerous other alternatives that could have been explored to generate the same revenue. If Steinbrenner was really that desperate, then it's puzzling why he never sold the naming rights to the stadium all these years.
