1) Yadier Molina- biased but people who don't watch this guy every day and/or follow the Cardinals really have no grasp how good he is. Top 10 player in the game, could go down as the greatest defensive catcher of all time.

I understand you said you are bias but at the same time I cannot fathom how Molina is your #1 favorite player to watch. Nothing about Molina is fun or enjoyable.

Kimbrel is extremely fun to watch.
I hate Bryce Harper but dammit he's fun to watch.
Justin Upton currently.
Hamilton was pretty fun to watch when he was on his 1-2 week tear last season.
Kershaw/Felix are always ridic to watch.
Cabrera - obvious reasons

ETA my bias picks would be gattis and medlen

How the frick has no one said Braun yet? His cut is so damn sweet.

If I was a Cardinals fan, then Carlos Marmol would be my number one.

My list in no order:
Braun
Votto
Miggy
Josh Johnson
Dan Haren
Utley
Pujols
Brandon Phillips
Franklin Gutierrez
Stanton

Best defensive catcher in baseball, watching him throw is a treat in itself, especially watching him pick guys off 1st base when they have a two step lead and take maybe a 1 step secondary

He also is one of the most clutch hitters in baseball and can make contact and put balls in play on pitches that others cant even foul off

like i said if you aren't a cardinals fan or dont follow the team regularly you wouldnt understand

and you just said gattis is fun to watch when molina he couldnt even hold Yadi's jock/he's hit like 4 homers but otherwise he doesnt do anything

I agree Yadier is a special player, but you're taking it a little too far IMO

-Best defensive catcher in baseball (and its not even close)
-calls the game entirely on his own and basically is the pitching coach (cards starters have #1 ERA so far this season (no Carpenter, Lohse, Motte)
-team emotional leader
-great clutch rbi guy and has gotten better every season offensively (most STL fans will say that hes the one guy they want up with the game on the line)

I'll take him in the top 10

Aroldis Chapman - If he's in the game, I'm not turning away. His dominance is something else.
Andrew McCutchen - Unbelievable athlete who took a huge step last year by showing he can also hit for average.
Jose Reyes - Love watching this guy on first base.
Mike Trout
Bryce Harper
Clayton Kershaw - Hell of a pitcher. He also loves Texas A&M.
Brandon Phillips - He's a goofball who wants every ball hit his way to be a web gem on Baseball Tonight.
Justin Upton - Dude is just good at baseball. I feel bad for B.J.
Ben Revere. Like Reyes, I love to watch his games from first base. That catch last night also has me in love right now. Seems like a good guy, too.
Yu Darvish - This guy has so much in his arsenal.

I'm actually super surprised that nobody has named Chapman.

Best defensive catcher in a while, obvoiusly. But top 10 player?

Braun
Trout
Miggy
Verlander
Kershaw
Posey
Cano
Felix
Votto
Price
Strasburg
Kemp
McCutchen
Pujols
Harper

There's an easy 15 I wouldn't take Molina over. I don't disagree with you, you're just going too far with it.

Almost all of your points are opinion/emotion based.

Even your one fact, you don't offer any statistical back-up for. Yady is the best defensive catcher in baseball. He undoubtedly makes pitchers better.

That being said, he's never finish top 10 in WAR. Not once.

Looking at career WAR from 2004 (his rookie year) to now, he's 4th amongst catchers alone.

In that same span he's 17th in HRs (behind guys like Geovany Soto and Ryan Doumit).

He's 20th in OBP.

He's not even top 30 in SLG%.

Yadi's true value comes from his defense all the way.

He's a miserable base runner and average (or slightly below) at the plate (sans the last couple of seasons).

He's not a top 10 player, no matter how much you want to feel it.

Let's get back to the question at hand, which was:

Who are your top 10 favorite players to watch in the game today?

Yadi...love to watch him, but he is *not* at top 10 player. Debate over. Let's move on.

Right, I'm fine with that. I listed a few non-top 10 guys in my own list.

But he was insistent Yadi was a top 10 player, not just one of HIS top 10 players to watch.

Verlander is my favorite to watch pitch. Weaver is close.

Position players would include Trout, Harper, Posey, Tulo.

I enjoy hating watching Hunter Pence play baseball, if that makes any sense.

And I just hate Shane Victorino.

Gattis is fun to watch bc he has been a janitor for the last 4 years and has 4 homers in like his first 20 professional at bats

It is always FUN to watch when rookies get their first at bats, ESPECIALLY when they are doing well.

I am not crowning him the best player in the league nor saying he is a better catcher than yadi which is laughable in itself bc gattis is a bad catcher.
