No way Cleveland has a fire sale. They may trade Carrasco or Kluber to pare some payroll but they won’t go all out. If you take one of those pitchers off their roster they still have a very good team

The only players that aren’t available are Lindor and Ramirez. Kluber is getting traded and Brantley is a free agent. It sounds like a money issue in Cleveland. Heyman said Kluber Cy Young clause gave him an extra 4 million a year on his contract and Cleveland doesn’t have enough to pay it. They will probably still win their division but they won’t be a threat in the playoffs.

and this is an oxymoron. every team that makes the playoffs is a threat. because the playoffs are a crap shoot and totally random. cleveland may look to trade some pieces to get salary relief, but i wouldnt classify that as a fire sale and they are still going to win the division next year unless something unforeseen happens

I would’ve agreed three years ago but look at the last three postseasons. The best team in each division has made the World Series the last three years. I honestly don’t blame any team wanting to rebuild in the AL right now with three dominant rosters in it.

Indians can trade one of their two starters and rebuild easily. They have two of the best offensive players in the game. They've been hurt in the OF and bullpen in recent years

this past two years do prove that. the astros were the best team in baseball this past year, and the dodgers were the best team in 2017. neither won the world series

Astros could lose 3/5 from the 2018 rotation.

At least the two that are left are Verlander and Cole, so 400 innings are taken

Sources: Nationals made Bryce Harper ‘aggressive offer' last month, did not reach agreement

The aggressive offer to Bryce Harper would have paid him about $30 million a year in the long-term proposal by the #Nats as the #Phillies, #SFGiants and #STLCards now expected to be in the mix.

quote:

But that they did not agree likely means the Nationals will have to engage in the kind of bidding war they rarely choose to win. Teams such as the St. Louis Cardinals, San Francisco Giants and Philadelphia Phillies have far more money to spare, and fewer luxury tax concerns than Washington, which has now crossed that threshold two seasons in a row and is determined not to let the streak go to three.

As there continues to be speculation about Bryce Harper and the Yankees, a well-placed source emphatically says: “It’s not happening. He’s not going to be a Yankee.”

some stuff going around that the cubs might be open to trading bryant?

LINK
quote:

But it's possible that the Cubs will trade him, perhaps as soon as this winter. As part of their early offseason discussions, sources say, the Cubs have indicated to other teams they are willing to discuss trade proposals for almost all of the players on their roster, including Bryant, who struggled in 2018, batting .272 with 13 homers in 102 games. Bryant went on the disabled list twice with left shoulder trouble.

I really don't understand why that article was written like that. Sounds like an opinion piece to get clicks. It's no secret the Cubs/Bryant haven't gotten anywhere in contract talks. I hate the phrase "as soon as this winter." I could die as early as right now.

So Buster is basically saying since KB hasn't signed an extension, Theo says no ones untouchable, and KB has been injured, then MAYBE POSSIBLY COULD see KB traded...weak.
