To be honest, that second half was once in a career. I know he has played well the past couple years but even Brady Anderson had a period where he was raking at the plate. I'll eat my words if he continues to put up .300 and 20+ home runs
He batted above .300 in 2016 and received MVP votes in 2015

I did say I was aware of that. I'm not taking away from his ability but his second half was one of the best runs in a long while and the ability to duplicate that is highly doubtful
ETA: Looking forward to watching who overpays him and how much they overpay

Well yeah, I agree with that. That 2nd half won't likely become his norm, but you said you'd eat your words if he kept batting above .300 w/ 20+ bombs. He's hit 20+ home runs the last four years and hasn't had an OBP of less than .344.
He's a damn good player.

Yes he has succeeded in doing those things over the past couple years. I just feel as if he is one of the players that would get the contract and then have the drop off. Then again perhaps I'm salty about the Astros getting rid of him, projectionnnn.

If I had to guess, I don't think production will be an issue with him, but rather or not he can stay healthy for the majority of the season.

For some reason nobody talks about how Tony Clark is not very good at his job and how the MLBPA has been living off of its glory years under Marvin Miller

How so? They make a couple of mistakes, yet win a WS and still have a top farm.

I don’t really understand the “lost a first rounder” part either. They received a pick for the Aiken thing, and that pick hit second and started at 3B on a WS team
Anyone who follows baseball understands the Astros front office is good, the mistakes they’ve made shows that no front office is perfect

They squandered Kris Bryant for a player since cut by the Phillies.

He said “squandered a first round pick and lost another”
I understand they took Appel in front of Bryant, I assume the lost pick is referring to Aiken. They lucked into a great outcome in that situation getting Bregman

Interest how it works out sometimes. Kris Bryant is an MVP level talent and would have created a jaw dropping core between him, Correa, and Altuve but would Bryant have made the plays that Bregman had..the 8th inning tying shot off Sale in the ALDS, or the play at the plate vs the Yankees, or the game winning hit in Game 5 vs the Dodgers
Posted on 12/19/17 at 1:42 pm to KirkLazarus
Bryant could have been a corner outfielder if it came down to it.
Posted on 12/19/17 at 1:43 pm to KirkLazarus
Bryant would have made plays that would have resulted in the same end result
Posted on 12/19/17 at 1:58 pm to KirkLazarus
They still would have taken Bregman and figured out which fit at 3B and which fit better in LF. That’s why you take BPA
Posted on 12/19/17 at 2:00 pm to ShaneTheLegLechler
I'm sure they would have taken Bregman if they were picking in that same slot but who is to say they would have that same slot with how quickly Bryant developed into his talent and as a leader
ETA: Yes to BPA, my mistake Bryant didn't debut until 2015.

I have been highly suspicious Anderson was on something those years. He was hitting 10-15 home runs a year. Then suddenly out of nowhere, he was hitting everything out.
