Funny thing is Lynn had bigger offers and turned them down... Twins offered him 2 years 20 million + incentives a couple of weeks ago....
Players thought they would see more money than what they're seeing

What I learned this offseason:
Tyler Chatwood is 32 million dollars better than Lance Lynn
Lorenzo Cain is not only better, but 72 million dollars better than Jon Jay

Boras strikes out again Sucks for Gonzalez lost out on $37MM
quote:
According to a source, the Rockies and Carlos Gonzalez discussed an extension last spring that could have been as much as three years/$45 million.
He ended up playing out his deal, then signed a one-year deal to return to Rockies. @BNightengale reports it's an $8 million deal.

Arrieta, Phillies agree to multiyear deal per MLB.com
Will continue to be a non-ace on that rotation behind Nola

Arrieta to the Phillies for 3 years. Curious to see the dollar figure.

Phillies gonna be sneaky good this year
Posted on 3/11/18 at 4:26 pm to tduecen
They'll need key contributors to step up. They are still behind the giants/mets/cards/brewers tier for the WC
Posted on 3/11/18 at 4:26 pm to WestCoastAg
I think they stay in contention and finish 2nd behind the Nationals this year

Phillies win more than the 74 they are projected to
Posted on 3/11/18 at 4:32 pm to tduecen
explain to me how they don't finish 4th or 5th in that division
and 74 wins isn't "sneaky good"

They're better than the Marlins and Braves and the Mets will have injury issues like usual....
Phillies finish second as Nola continues to step up his game, Franco finds some common ground, Hoskins continues to rake, Herrera continues to be underrated, Santana brings stability... then they have talent coming up. 74 wins would have them with the 5th worst record in the NL according to projections.

Pumped he didn't go to the brewers or nats so I don't have to constantly hope he fails.

Boras really is looking like a jackass this off-season.
Wanting 7 and 8 year deals is ridiculous.

better then the Marlins, yea.
I feel like people always underestimate tried and true MLB players.
I could just as easy say
Franco doesn't find common ground, which is more likely at this point
Hoskins is due regression, which is more likely
Herrera fell off last year.
Rookie SS, Rookie C.
Steep Fall off after SP2. Arrieta is trending down. Okay bullpen.

Braves will be trying to get their young guys innings, I don't think they will really be trying to compete.... The Mets I wonder where the offense will come from... I think the Phillies even if Franco struggles they have a decent core with Herrera who has proved it for a couple of years, Santana, and I like Hoskins and hope he can keep the strikeouts down....

While I agree with the general sentiment in your post, their rotation behind Nola has looked okay in the Spring. Will depend on Vinny V finally putting it together (big if, but he's looked fine this spring at least) and Jerckoff staying healthy.
