As a 6 seed. Not as a title contender.

Cuban is fortunate Dirk was so loyal to the franchise, or he'll STILL be looking for a championship. Luka signed his max deal (I'm surprised) but I don't see that happening twice.

What? Mavs with Dirk were yearly title contenders

Cause Dirk, who Cuban inherited, was that good. Dirk’s best teammate for most of his career his prime years was an undersized streaky shooting terrible defensive 6th man sg.

Go look at that 2006 roster Dirk almost won with. It’s bad. Dirk spent a few years tearing it up in the playoffs but going home early cause the roster was shite.

Cuban didn’t then, and doesn’t now, know how to build a team. And a lot of the shite he’s said and done has hurt the Mavs trying to get players.

Luka they are playoff bound each year.

Anybody who follows the Mavs knows that they have completely fricked up building this current roster the last few years. It’s all on Cuban.

He inherited Dirk, had to be talked into getting Luka, ignored people telling him to draft Giannis.

quote:

Fail to see where he "failed" either player

Falling arse backwards into two generational players doesn’t represent what Cuban has done to help those players. He is not a good owner.

Right-hander Michael Wacha and the Boston Red Sox are finalizing a one-year contract, sources familiar with the deal tell ESPN. Wacha, 30, was solid in a starting role for Tampa Bay last season and is expected to bring depth to the Red Sox’s rotation. Deal is pending a physical

Sources: Eduardo Escobar, Mets in agreement on 2-year deal, pending physical. Close to $25M.

Word has gotten out that the Orioles would listen on star CF Cedric Mullins, and teams are lining up to give it a shot knowing it’s a long shot. Asking price is understandably extremely high. All these teams (and more) could use a CF: Philly, Rangers, Astros, Giants, Mets, Yanks.

Outfielder Mark Canha and the New York Mets are nearing a deal, league sources tell ESPN. Canha, 32, is a versatile, high-on-base guy who can play all three outfield positions and first base. When finalized as expected, the Mets will have gotten better.

Seems like a great deal for the Mariners.

27 year old minor league relief pitcher and a recent 12th round draft pick. Thought they could have gotten more for him.

So which isn't?
The best CF on the market one?
The guy who has .377 career OBP?
Or the versatile IF who has shown considerable pop the last few years?

financial breakdown of Franco’s deal is provided by Marc Topkin of The Tampa Bay Times, who reports that Franco will get a $5MM signing bonus. The shortstop will earn $1MM in 2022, $2MM in both 2023 and 2024, $8MM in 2025, $15MM in 2016, $22MM in 2027, and then $25MM in each of the 2028-32 seasons. The Rays have a $25MM club option on Franco for 2033 that comes with a $2MM buyout.

The last six years of the contract contain escalator clauses worth up to $3MM based on Franco’s finishes in MVP voting. Franco would receive an extra $3MM in the event of a trade, but there isn’t any no-trade protection involved in the extension.
