The Marlins and outfielder Jorge Soler have agreed to a three-year, $36MM contract, MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand reports (Twitter links). Soler has opt-out clauses after each of the 2022 and 2023 seasons. Soler is represented by MVP Sports.

Outfielder Michael Conforto turned down an extension offer from the Mets one year ago, reports Andy Martino of SNY. Per Martino’s tweet, the contract offer was “in the $100 million range” and “would have gone to about $120MM.”

Story Red Sox deal is $140M, 6 years. There’s a complicated opt-out in it whereby if he opts out the Red Sox retain an option to keep him at different terms.

Flaherty and Reyes are already hurt. Cardinals are looking for more pitching.

Curious how pitchers react to the innings this year. Last year a lot of teams limited the innings coming off the short season

Trevor Story has agreed to play 2B for Boston. Xander Bogaerts, the longtime Red Sox SS w/2 rings, will remain at SS for Boston for 2022. Bogaerts has an opt out after the season he is sure to exercise, so potentially (if Bogaerts leaves), Story could move back to SS next season.

I don't understand why the Rockies didn't trade Story last year. Now they get nothing.

They offered him more than Boston and he rejected them

Then they should of traded him then. He still would have brought back a decent haul.

Mariners right-hander Casey Sadler is dealing with soreness in his throwing shoulder and is “going to be down for quite some time,” manager Scott Servais told reporters (including MLB.com’s Jesse Borek and The Seattle Times’ Ryan Divish). Sadler is apparently taking time to decide on what his next step will be, which could be an indication that surgery is being considered to address the issue.

Kieboom told Jessica Camerato and other reporters that in the “best-case scenario,” he will miss four-to-six weeks of action. A more specific timeline will be known when the additional tests are done

Flaherty discussed his injury situation today with MLB.com’s Joe Trezza and other reporters, noting that the PRP injection wasn’t due to his labrum tear, but rather bursitis. Flaherty felt that the shoulder issue was brought on by mechanical changes Flaherty made last season, while trying to adjust to his oblique strain.

Braves GM Alex Anthopoulos is signing for fans at CoolToday Park. They’re very excited to see him. “Thank you for all you’ve done!” one yelled. “You’re a genius!” another shouts.

Soler needs to prove he can put it all together for 162 games before AA throws that kind of money at him.

That's the son of the Rangers hitting coach that just got busted for leaking signings.
