MLB defensive highlights would be cut in half if runners actually sprinted.

Most of the diving stops at short you see on Sportscenter should not result in outs. Why do so many players just not give a shite on the base paths?

Most guys never run out ground balls on the infield because over the course of an entire season it’s just not worth it. Beating out 1 of every 100 of them isn’t worth the injury risk

A lot of the older players go at about half speed because it’s simply not practical to try and beat out every ground ball on the infield over the course of 162 games if you have any kind of knee/hamstring/quad issues.

I think most of the younger players in the game are running anything close out.

take care of yourself, play to win the game. I am triggered when players don't run out ground balls

It's just not lower leg injuries players are worried about. It's the bags on the bases themselves. The bags consist of a hard rubber outer shell. If you land on it the wrong way, players can easily suffer a major injury. Just ask Mannt Machado who blew out his knee after landing awkwardly on the first base bag back in 2013.

Because generally speaking, it's the smart thing to do.

They would still be out 99% of the time.

Only in baseball is running 90 feet unimpeded considered an injury risk
