MLB and the players union have made a deal to expand playoffs for 2020. Still needs ratification so not quite a certainty. Assuming it gets done, playoffs go from 10 teams to 16.

Certainly understandable for Dodgers fans to dislike this.

Don’t like. I think 60 games is a long enough season to determine the 10 best teams in these circumstances.

It's under 50% of a normal season.

Not a fan of this with a 162 game season but in a 60 game season I’m fine with it.

Obviously just a money play, hoping that by the time expanded playoffs happen at least some fans are allowed into games. I don't blame them.

I’m aware, I should have stressed “in these circumstances”.

If it goes through no way do they shrink it back whenever we have the first normal season again.

I'm by ok with it for this season since it's abbreviated. The NFL did this for the 1982 season when they only had 9 games.

Interesting wrinkle in the 16-team playoff format: All second-place teams in the six divisions qualify. Then the 7th and 8th teams will be chosen by best record among other teams.

I'm not a fan of this.

One of the following is now guaranteed to make the playoffs
Diamondbacks
Padres
Rockies
Giants

Hell yeah, the Giants-Blue Jays World Series is going to be incredible, especially with the Giants playing seven home games

Honestly, I like the 60 game season and expanded playoffs more than 162 regular season games plus a playoff.

The 162 game schedule is too long.

Same, I'm not getting worked up about this season one way or the other. Going forward I hope they at least back it down to 7 so there's a bye to chase. Need some incentive to do well in the regular season.

What a pansy arse playoff system. Half the fricking league gets in? Seriously?

We go from 4 teams each league from a few years ago to 8. Just keep watering down that regular season.

Might as well go CWS rules this season.
