If the combination of Ruf and Vogelbach were one player, they would rank 8th in MLB in WRC+, just ahead of Pete Alonso. Platooning players is where it’s at.

Tyler Mahle to the Twins. Donovan Solano, Brandon Drury and Kyle Farmer are the only other names I keep hearing we might trade elsewhere. No idea what we could get for them but don't think any of the 3's value will ever be higher. If we're gutting this roster, then fricking gut it and get the rebuild right. #Reds2024orBust

The player option for next year is making the deal tricky. San Fran sees it as them losing a pick because he won’t take it as it stands right now, and other teams see it as a potential risk if he gets hurt then opts in.

The Padres tried to do this about a decade or so ago (or at least it feels like it was that long ago) and it didn’t go well. But, they are going about it in a better way this time.
