No it would be embarrassing if that team didnt make the finals the last 2 years. The heat wouldn't have 4 straight finals appearances in the west

Lebron came out of high school and Jordan was in college, so the age comparison isn't perfect.
Do it by number of seasons.
After [whatever number season this is for LeBron], what does it look like?
Just let them have this

Michael Jordan was also older when he joined the NBA. That kind of helps Lebron's stats a little bit.

LeBron had team success earlier than Jordan did, and people seem to want to forget that Jordan was eliminated from the playoffs plenty himself.
When/if LeBron gets to 4 or 5 rings, then it's time to start the conversation.
Winning one this year could have started the whispers, but it's still too early IMO

Why are we ignoring the fact that the Heat lost to a better team this year, and beat the better team last year?
And why is individual prestige so dependent on team success? LeBron getting that Cavs team to the finals was more impressive than the 2 championships he won.

Great thread. It really is crazy that players are penalized for losing in the Finals compared to losing in the middle rounds.

Greatness is measured in championship situations.

In the minds of idiots who need team stats to determine individual legacies

All the MJ lovers have this in their back pocket. As soon as LeBron wins his 6th championship, people will say that Jordan would have 8 if he didn't take off two years, or he would have more if he didn't go to college, or 6/6 is better than 6/9 blah blah blah. Regardless of his accomplishments, LeBron will never be good enough in their eyes. It's pathetic romanticized bullshite.

age > number of seasons
neither is "perfect" but age is much, much better

I don't really care to argue about it but I'll say the ACC at age 19 doesn't compare to the NBA at 19.

Ive had people at work tell me Lebron was ready for the NBA at 18 and MJ needed college to get ready for the NBA. This is the spin that will grow like wildfire.

Um, there may be some truth to that.

but LBJ is being judged by his developmental time and jordan is not. massive difference

I agree with you there. So can we take some of those second-round exits off LeBron's resume?
Age kinda encapsulates the same thing, though.
Mike has pro accolades from 22-29, while Lebron has them from 18-29.

That tends to happen when one is "developing" in college and the other decides to jump straight into being a professional.
