You had Gary Payton and Mark price. Good players, but not nearly as genetically and physically gifted.

You seem to be stuck on Price, and I don't want to get involved in the back and forth of this thread. But I have to stop you on Gary Payton. He was unreal and may be the best defensive player of all time.

Plus, he's my favorite player ever and so I have to knight for him a little.

Mark Price was a master at splitting the PnR.

Guy would be a monster today.

People are so wedded to their narratives that they feel attacked when someone mounts an argument to the contrary. It's kind of hilarious, really. I have my opinion on the two, but neither was/is my favorite player nor has either played for my team so the question is always more academic/analytical to me than personal.

That Cavs team was really good, Harper was a great defender on Jordan, if the Cavs didn't trade him they probably split a couple of Eastern titles with the Bulls to kick off the 90s he was a massive key for that team almost like a Kawhi Leonard of the 80s

But only a fool would take prime Jordan over prime James in the NBA in either era, were both in a vacuum.

I would take Jordan in a heartbeat. I guess everyone has an opinion, you can have yours, I can have mine. Jordan was an all around better player than anyone playing today.

That's always how I took LeBron's quote about his haters having to go back to their regular lives.

At the end of it, sports is just a game. We all have real world stuff to deal with, and tearing down LeBron (or kissing up to LeBron) doesn't change that for us. Or for him.

Too many people try to live vicariously. Just handle your own stuff. Disagree and debate, sure, but watching two great players in MJ and LeBron is a treat for me. I'm just happy I got to watch the best to ever do it in their respective primes.

As much as I love LeGOAT, I agree, Jordan's massive competitiveness, ability to school people bigger than him, and lack of liability at the free-throw line make him a more appealing option, particularly for clutch moments

If that's what you choose to think, so be it, man. Like I said, IDGAF either way--I'm not a fan of either. I'm a Spurs fan and a fan of basketball looking at the two as objectively as I can

Right.

Although I do think it's stupid to claim that GP was not genetically or physically gifted.

I think the main point of the recent discussions is that Jordan is more self-aware as a human being.

Michael Jordan literally did a national advertisement wearing a Hitler mustache. He has repeatedly made fun of his high school coach in public, including during his hall of fame speech, while exaggerating his origin story about getting cut from his high school team, while knowing that the man became a destitute paranoid schizophrenic.

He is one of the least self-aware human beings on the planet.

This has nothing to do with his basketball skills or who is better between LeBron and Jordan. But if we are talking about humility, grace, or things of that nature, Jordan is one of the worst possible examples that can be given.

Lebrons East competition has been abysmal... especially since 2012... Hes played against better Finals teams though. Still, Jordan is the better player.

This is true. Lebron would only have 3 finals appearances if he played in the west

Well, Mike when you are the GOAT and not some little insecure bitch like a certain other person you don’t have to say it. Mike=GOAT
Then you watch MJ's HOF speech and realize how incredibly insecure he is, now we gotta find a new GOAT.
