33 years old, 34 in August
- He hasn't played more than 125 games since 2019, hasn't played 140 games since 2018.
- He hasn't hit .300 in a full season since 2018
- Over the past 5 years he has 469 hits
- career .299/.410/.581 hitter
- counting stats 1648 hits, 378 home runs, 954 RBI, 212 SB
He needs some healthy productive seasons as he was the greatest player in baseball from 2012-2019 but he hasn't played much since. Still at 86 career WAR so a HOF lock but if he continues to play like he has and doesn't hit some important counting stats does it hurt him?

Say he never gets 2000 hits as he never plays a full season again, how likely is it he becomes first ballot? His numbers have gone down the last 4 years as his average is under .300 now, say his OBP drops below .400 as well because of him continuing his career. Does it hurt him overall? This isn't a Mays situation who struggles near the end of career, Mays was in his 40's not early 30's.

Is he still greater than Griffey jr?

Great career.
Got a lot of good pitches because of how rarely he played in any games of importance.

i mean last year was really the fist meh year of his career and even then we were still talking about a 4+ win player over a full season
maybe all the injuries have finally caught up to him. but im willing to give him more than the slower than normal 30 games he had last year when he has still largely been a GREAT player when he plays

I was a lock to be the best defensive catcher in MLB history before my shoulder injury. I guess I'm in the HOF too. I love Cooperstown.

interesting. did you prove that over a decade of terrific play in major league baseball? what team did you play for? what years? can i look you up on fangraphs?

He can retire now and still be 1st ballot. You don’t know ball.

I think it’s pretty unlikely he ever plays a full year again. They should really DH him full time but Angels gonna Angel

He is not a HOF lock with those stats.

As an Astros fan I hate to see him go. We got him out all of the time, when he did get big hits the games were already over. Never scared me like Pujols did.

He is easily getting 400 homers and 2k hits

Lock for the HOF but honestly he’s a ton overrated these days. Injury prone, never able to prove his worth in games that matter because he never wanted to play for a team worth a damn, and no one can pick him out of a lineup.
