Sources: Michigan football's situation has not gotten better on the COVID front. At this point, we'd bet heavily against games this week or next.

They're going to throw him a parade if this keeps OSU out of the CFP, they're that petty.

Eta: nvm, forgot about the 21 day crap from the big 10

The only hope would be a 2nd B1G game gets cancelled and we can pick that up.

I fully expect Michigan to not play that game.

OSU just has to play one of their remaining two games and they would still have a small chance.

The Big Ten team average for games played could drop, thus making them eligible even with only 5 games.

Like half of the Big Ten teams have covid right now. There will be a lot more cancellations.

The Big 10 deserves all the shite they get. All they did was virtue signal and grandstand with their holier than thou approach. Then they start late with the biggest pile of shite protocols around. Now, all that shite is coming home to roost. The CFP/NY6 should tell them to kick rocks. Frick the Big 10.

Is it a sliding scale? Everyone says 6 games minimum to be eligible for the championship game.

Obviously, I don't know the exact rules, but yes it is some sort of sliding scale.

It's probably likely at this point that another school gets an outbreak that cancels another game and Ohio State can slide in and play that opponent.

Now if Michigan cancels Friday next week, that might frick Ohio State over. But if Ohio State plays this Saturday, I'm guessing they will be willing to fly to whatever Big Ten city they need to play someone, regardless of the notice.

If the average games played per team is under 6, then you need to be within 2 games of that number.

If it stays above 6, then you need 6 to qualify.

The B1G is about 8 games away from that under 6 average. Highly unlikely thay happens.

Is this number including the Michigan cancellation today?

15 is the cancellations needed. Not sure how many there have been.

But not every single game will be cancelled next week so we aren't gonna be below the 6 threshold.

No no no....If Ohio State plays Michigan State this weekend, then, even if they don't play next weekend at all...all they would have to do is schedule another game on the same day as the B1G Championship game...like Iowa or Wisconsin. The B1G already signed off on that being allowed to happen. The irony is that, not playing Michigan actually HELPS Ohio State's chances because it gives Ohio Stat another game against a ranked opponent instead of sorry arse Michigan. Again, if Ohio State doesn't play Michigan next week, but picks up a game against Wisconsin or Iowa...that HELPS Ohio State.
