Reports of sexual misconduct by Dr. Larry Nassar reached at least 14 Michigan State University representatives in the two decades before his arrest, with no fewer than eight women reporting his actions, a Detroit News investigation has found.

Among those notified was MSU President Lou Anna Simon, who was informed in 2014 that a Title IX complaint and a police report had been filed against an unnamed physician, she told The News on Wednesday.

“I was informed that a sports medicine doctor was under investigation,” said Simon, who made the brief comments after appearing in court Wednesday to observe a sentencing hearing for Nassar. “I told people to play it straight up, and I did not receive a copy of the report. That’s the truth.”

Among the others who were aware of alleged abuse were athletic trainers, assistant coaches, a university police detective and an official who is now MSU’s assistant general counsel, according to university records and accounts of victims who spoke to The News.

Is true the president said she was too busy to come support the ladies in trial giving their statements but would "catch the live stream."

Yeah it is disapppinting. You'd think with this whole me too movement that this would be a continuous top story.

That article is pretty damning for a number of people at Michigan State.

I think it's not being covered very much is because it isn't as cut and dry as some other cases. Nasser did this stuff in the guise of a medical procedure. This not only got past MSU, it was the US gymnastics, other physicians. A title IX board, and police. There were a ton of failures that led to these terrible events. The president and the AD of MSU should be gone along with anybody who knew about this and decided not to act

I was thinking about starting the same thread. It's interesting how there hasn't been much outrage compared to the PSU situation. I guess since it's gymnastics and not football, it doesn't move to the needle as much. Sad.

You're right but Michigan State is going to be spending a ton of money on legal settlements in the near future.

It is mind boggling that this continued to go on with such high profile athletes.

Part of the blowback against Penn State was attributable to Paterno's "holier than thou" attitude. If Paterno hadn't acted like every other university was shady in comparison to his pristine, academics-first program, I honestly believe more of the focus would've been on Sandusky and less on the warped institutional culture that enabled him.

Regardless, it's stunning and tragic this predator was allowed to prey on young girls for so long. This whole situation shows how toothless accreditation agencies and the NCAA truly are.

Can't argue...just shameful honestly. I was Really upset with Simon's comments (especially when her and the board wouldn't go to some other court event and some BS Reasoning with that) and how they've handled this.
