I hated when the NBA went away from the team concept, and it became all about the star player. I want to be a fan of a team, not a guy... when he goes somewhere else I stay a fan of that team, and not swap loyalties. The whole Lebron thing where he gets premium attention wherever he goes- I don't like it, and it's not about not liking Lebron (I don't), it's about how it's destroying the team fandom concept.

NBA has been a league about the stars since the 80s. Lakers vs Celtics doesn't become a thing if they don't have the perfect stars (Magic vs Bird) to run that narrative.

Yeah, that's random. I wonder why he's getting involved here

His kids both went to USC and work in entertainment. We need to get in on that action.

He donated $200M to USC med school.

But you and millions of others are still going to watch.

Give it time.

Think about the things that made you a fan of CFB in the first place and ask yourself if you would have become a fan if what is true today was true then.

Yes, I still watch but if I’m being honest, there isn’t anything to “latch on to” at this point. It’s really just “interesting” as opposed to something I’m invested in.

This was probably plan A or B all along. Had he committed to Michigan early like he did LSU, his NIL deal would be maybe half.

Different strokes I guess.

Personally, if I had just learned CFB and the NFL in 2024 and never gone to a college with a team, I would have concluded that CFB is a less organized and less polished version of the NFL and viewed accordingly.

I stated it was cool with the Jordan phenomenon, but I was already an NBA fan. I cared about Lakers vs Celtics before Jordan came onto the scene. And while it was great that Magic etc was with the Lakers, and Bird etc with the Celtics, if those guys moved on I was still interested with Lakers/Celtics. Same thing with other teams and players.

I mean, what's stopping you now. You can still be a fan of whatever franchise you choose. That is still a thing. Tanking teams still have fans. It just so happens to be that teams with superstar teams have the most fans. But as I said, that has always been a thing. Everyone loved to watch the Magic/Celtics in the 80s. There's a reason everyone in the 80s wanted to watch those 2 teams, and not the Pacers and the Hawks.
