It might be a micro level point you are interpreting on the macro level.
While non white has become the dominate color of all pro sports beside the NHL it has not, nor do many see it becoming, the dominate color of pro sports ownership. Not just to single out African Americans because look at the hispanics in MLB but no corresponding MLB ownership.

They are so afraid of being scooped they no longer to actually research before they air. I think the UK is still more grounded with libel laws that making sure you have multiple sources before airing means better accuracy.
