Adoption is literally never mentioned in the movie as what happened between michael and the Tuohys.. Nope, not once

LINK It's probably not a good idea to blatantly lie about a movie that alot of people already saw.

Where's the "adoption" part in the clip? I heard "legal guardians" which is not the same thing.

How would shel react to someone saying “I’m not going to judge the cops until all the facts come out” in regards to the Mississippi case regarding the torture of the black victims?

The point of the entire movie was the Tuohys taking Michael in and making him apart of the family. It's easily inferred that they were adopting Michael. In fact that was not the case, they had him sign a conservatorship so they could be in control of his affairs. That sounds nothing like officially making him a part of the family.

Sure you can infer it but the movie doesn’t say it and the Tuhoeys never claimed he officially adopted him (Michael never changed his last name, for a example)

Even in recent quotes he refers to him as “his son Michael”

Clearly they brought him in and wanted him to be part of their family. It’s a shame that whatever is happening Michael is throwing away all of this good will with a public smear campaign like this. Airing this all out just makes everyone look bad

Never heard of that case but I'd be consistent as I always am. If someone claimed they were tortured, I'd argue to let the facts come out and not assume their word is gospel but let the facts prove they were tortured.

That didn't go the way you thought it would, here comes the spin!

But let's add to the absurd shite you've said in this thread, a bra submission.... You think stating word for word that you'll wait for all the facts to come out means you're making it political

The family decided not to adopt after finding a dirty pair of Mrs. Tuohy's panties under Michael's bed.

Ok sure, it's not the same thing. But they clearly said they wanted to become his legal guardians. That is not the same thing as a convervatorship.

Was it legal guardian or conservatorship?

If conservatorship, that isn't what the movie implied, but also, did he or did he not get paid for the movie?

Sorry for being polticial/asking questions.

Michael has made comments multiple times going back many years knowing he was not adopted, and even specifically mentions Conservatorship in his 2011 book.

At this point, I'd like to see the documents relating to whatever was filed. I'm not sure if it was guardianship or conservatorship, though the latter term is being used by Oher.

I wonder if the below has happened assuming this was a conservatorship.

quote:

In Mississippi the chancery court appoints guardians and conservators and supervises their work. A conservator must keep careful records and report to the court on a regular basis. These reports become public record in an attempt to curb the potential for abuse and mismanagement of assets that belong to a defenseless ward.

I'm having a hard time buying that Oher believed he was adopted up until February of this year, but who knows.

The quote from this article is also confusing.

quote:

The 2004 conservatorship filing claims that Oher wanted the Tuohys to be his legal guardians up until he became 25 years old — or until the conservatorship was dissolved by a court beforehand.

If the conservatorship was to end at age 25, why does he need to ask for it to end? Doesn't make sense to me.

While I want more information, this whole thing sets off the alarms in my head of Oher being full of complete shite

Yes, this is so.

Judge in the case told Bloomberg Law no filings came before his desk
Michael Oher case shows how conservatorships receive scant scrutiny

Amid the eyebrow-raising contentions detailed in court this week by former NFL star Michael Oher — that his supposed adoptive parents never actually adopted him, and that an Oscar-winning movie about their relationship was built on a lie — another truth also was revealed.

In the US, adult conservatorships often fail to protect those under the court’s watch. In Oher’s case, records show, the system wasn’t watching at all for nearly two decades.

The judge who approved Oher’s conservatorship told Bloomberg Law no case papers ever crossed his desk after the initial approval. “To my recollection nothing was ever forwarded to me,” said former Probate Judge Robert Benham, who retired in 2013.

Instead of being adopted, as he thought, Oher had gone into a conservatorship in 2004 with the Tennessee family that took him in. Yet for 19 years, his conservators never filed annual accountings or other court papers, Oher’s filing contends and court records show.

Indeed, the court file in the Oher case is empty between December 2004, when the conservatorship was approved, and this week, when the new petition was filed. A court official said the Oher digitized file contains all of the case’s pleadings.

Did he ever ask questions about the case?

“No, and I would have had no reason to unless they would have filed something in court for an additional hearing,” Benham said.

There are definitely questions around it, for sure, which is why I said from the outset of this thread in the early pages, all of it should be easy to prove one way or the other.

Whether he had the conservatorship, legal guardian, paid for the movie or not, I can't imagine any of that should be difficult to show the true facts.

Also you said you want information, pride thinks you're an idiot, gossipping housewife, or crazy leftist... I just felt you needed to know that.
