if they get to play by 80's/90's rules they push todays team around if its by nows rules it would be closer

Excellent point. The 80's/90's game was much more physical than today's game. Hand checking was allowed and there were no flagrant fouls. You paid a physical toll for driving through the lane. Lebron, CP3 and Derron Williams are the only players from the 12 Team that could still play at an All Star level with 80s/90s rules.

THink about it..and for the record, Bird could outshoot Durant easily, so why would he be needed.

Bird shoot better than Durant? Birds best years he made around 90 3 pnt baskets. Durant made 130 this year. Would you like to reconsider your post

maybe b/c bird didnt need to launch a bunch of 3's for his team to win. Bird had 6 seasons where he shot over 40% on 3's.

Chis Mullins, 6'6" avg 25ppg and shot 52% from the field in 91-91.

The Dream team had a big front court and plenty of guys that can shoot lights out. Much easier to play team ball with that kind of team makeup.

If Dwight Howard, Derrick Rose, Dwayne Wade, Chris Bosh and Blake Griffin were healthy, I think there would be an argument that this team could hang with the Dream Team.

As is, I think the Dream Team's vast superiority at the PG and PF/C would overwhelm the 2012 team.

I think after this game its pretty clear...no one on the Dream Team could remotely handle Anthony "4 point play" Davis. He's the game changer

So now "shooting" means 3's? lol Birds career at the same age is better than Durant"s.

IDGAF if Durant made 200 3's, are you saying he is a better basketball player than Larry Bird, who along with Jordan/Magic is in the arguement for the best player in the history of the league! And they were on the same team....

Im not sure if Durant is the best player on his team, ffs!

Griffin wouldn't be on the team if they are all healthy. Aldridge or Bynum could be on it. I'd go Aldridge.

Kobe
Lebron
Durant
Melo
Wade
CP3
Rose
Westbrook (over Deron)
Howard
Aldridge
Bosh
Love

And to the guy pimping bird...all time greats: kobe and lebron > larry

People forget too that Jordan (and Bird, and Magic, and the rest) had to deal with the hand checking rules too.

And Kobe and Lebron, and Durant > Larry Bird? Wow. I mean, wow. It's obvious you guys were born after 1988 or so, and never watched the NBA back then to have it to truly compare to.

bullshite. They'd just learn to play with those rules. Could you drop them into it and have them be successful? Maybe not, but they're great, great players and they'd learn to deal.

noone has said that Durant is a better player than Larry Bird.

People have said, and are correct in saying that Durant in 2012 is better than Bird with no back in 1992.

He was comparing Durant to Bird...read thru it if you need to make an informed comment.

I personally dont think there is a single person out there ever affilliated with the NBA that would take Durant in his prime over Bird in his prime.

Durant is a very good player. He's not going to be recognized in the top 10 in the history of the NBA!

BTW,to the other guy...has Durant ever won the 3 point contest?

I read the article and it makes sense but if scoring was so brutally hard back in the late 80's and early 90's then why was the average score much higher?

so Kobe past his prime is better than MJ in his prime? That's nuts since Kobe is not the greatest of all time. Pippen would shut down Lebron. who would stop the Admiral or Barkley? Who can shoot 3's better now than Mullin did? Nobody.

Simple, league was much smaller then, meaning more good and great players per team. The worst thing that happened to the NBA was adding several teams since late 80's.

I think it should be noted that Kobe has since backtracked somewhat. He said he didn't claim that the 2012 team would beat the Dream Team in a 7 game series, but only that they could win a game against them
