I did a double take on that one. Called his arse out.

Watching this (and I'm a little behind live tv), I always thought Jordan was more humble than this. Not that it's annoying per se, but I never realized that he was pretty arrogant (not that he doesn't deserve to be though).

A little weak early on, but very entertaining. Stockton and Robinson must hate him

I doubt it. I enjoyed both of their speeches more though. Like I said in another thread, that was the fitst time I've seen Stockton speak, and he's actually kinda funny.
Jordan's speech is pretty bad IMO.

Thought the speech was wnba worthy

Read the Jordan Rules. Jordan was one fo the biggest assholes to ever play the game and the most effective trashtalker in the league.
But he had a genius marketing team around him. He's not humble at all. He still thinks he could go and start in the NBA.
(and maybe he can).
But one of the biggest things Jordan ever accomplished was staying neutral enough to become so marketable. If he had acted throughout his career how he did in this induction, there's no way he'd have been so huge worldwide.
ETA: Jordan is still my favorite player all time.

Me too, and it's really not even close. If anybody has ever earned the right to be arrogant it's Jordan. His competitive nature and drive to be the best is what made him such a great player.

Nope, I read his book "For the Love of the Game" and he is many things but Humble was never one of them. He called Scottie a Predator but only when other predators are with Scottie.
He was the greatest. IMO nothing wrong with knowing it.

exactly.
And you know what, Larry Bird was an a-hole too. Oh well. There are the few instances when the people who think they are the best, actually happen to be the best.
Humble? How the frick could he possibly be humble?

I agree.
And like I said, he definitely has earned the right to be arrogant. I just didn't figure he was as bad as this. Talking shite to Bryon Russell at his induction speech? How irrelevant is that..?

Exactly. It was their attitudes that made them good at what they did. Jordan, Bird, Magic, etc...they were the best to ever play, and one reason for that is because every time they stepped onto a court, they BELIEVED that they were.

Par for the course. There's a reason it was such a big deal when AI crossed him over in his rookie season.
Michael wasn't just the best player. He was one of the baddest. He flat out intimidated people. Called them names. Embarassed them on and off the court. Like Kobe, but not petulant, just fricking mean.
AI was one of the first people to show no fear vs MJ, and it was one of the signals that his career was winding down. You can't be as competitive as Mike without being a prick.

and they made everyone else believe it too.
I'm surprised he didn't mention Reggie Miller. He wasn't afraid of MJ either.
