Why should anyone be REQUIRED by the government to report rumors?
Because they're liable for damages if they knew or should have know about abuse or other sexual misconduct by their students or employees.
To be fair, Title IX is aimed at students being victims, but the duty to report eventually gets to a Title IX representative who makes that decision. It's not for Urban to make.

Do you believe everything you hear with 100% certainty? How is hearing about something knowing something. I could understand your argument if He actually witnessed it.
And what the hell do you mean by “should have known”? There are things we should know about our employees personal lives? Should Urban ask all his employees about their marriage on a daily basis because he “should know”?

And for the record I’m ok with this law being required for issues that happen on campus or in a school sponsored situation. But no one can come up with a good explanation why something that happens in someone’s home outside of work needs to be investigated by Urban Meyer and reported

Absolutely.
I wasn’t aware that every bruise is the result of domestic violence. They have some crazy women out there that will say a lot of things. That’s for the police to sort out, not Urban Meyer If someone is willing to show pictures to Urban Meyer why aren’t they willing to show them to the police?

Unless he saw a video of the guy hitting his wife.
Then that wouldn’t be a rumor.

Okay, just had to be sure you were trolling. Thanks.

How does a picture change anything?
The law doesn’t require you to report it only if you see a picture. It requires you to report any rumor. He would have been fricked even without a picture.
Y’all are incapable of looking past this case and just evaluating the law. I’ve already stated that Urban should have reported it, and OSU certainly isnt unreasonable for firing him.

The only way he is going to be fired is if proof comes out that his wife told him what the alleged victim herself confided in her.
That's a lot more serious than what one would normally dismiss as a "rumor".
These are horrible situations since often even if the abuse is true the wife may ideally just want it to stop instead of lead to her husband losing his job etc. . .
However, anyone who doesn't like the safeguards huge organizations take to protect their students, employees (and themselves from lawsuits) --like me personally -- can freely choose to not to take their jobs.

When was the last time a coach was placed on administrative leave and ended up keeping his job? I'll hang up and listen.

All I asked was a simple question. I'm not incapable of anything.
Your answer was enough for me to know I don't need to take anything you say seriously. Consider it a pre-screening, if you will.

His wife telling him something doesn’t make it any less of a rumor. Maybe your wife is sane, but they aren’t all sane.

Sure, a private corporation can do whatever it wants. The government controlling public tax money based on ridiculous laws isn’t the same.
You really love to create strawman arguments

Yes, it sounds like they may already have enough proof that he knew of the alleged victim claiming she was being abused and didn't report it as per his contract.

Yea, carry on. You aren’t capable of examining an issue on anything more than a rudimentary level so I don’t want to engage you anyway.
“Urban had picture. Urban wife told him. Title IX good.”

I'm telling you what the United States Supreme Court decided in Gesber and Davis.

It's not for Urban to decide, it's for the Title IX officer.

I never said any thing near that. In fact, I haven't commented on this situation at all. I asked a fairly simple question to see if you were capable of giving a straight answer.
When I read your response I had enough to know there was no reason to engage in a conversation with you on the topic at hand.
But by all means, keep lecturing me on my capabilites.

He's arguing against a strawman. Nobody agrees with him.
Posted on 8/2/18 at 12:50 am to WaWaWeeWa
According to Title IX, it’s his job to report such things and failing to do so will cost him his job if that’s what happened.

If you are, you might need a new script. Sounds like it’s not cutting the mustard.
