Mavericks trade 2nd round pick to the warriors for Willie Cauley-Stein

Mavs starting center Dwight Powell just went down with a season ending achilles injury so this was pretty crucial. Low risk/high reward trade, very nice move. Cauley-Stein wasn’t putting up crazy numbers with the warriors, but I look for him to put up better numbers playing alongside Luka and an overall better team.
Just curious, are there a decent amount of mavs fans on here? Check in if so.

we did, and we still have room to make another move if we want to. just don’t really know what else we need at this point, other than replacing a couple smaller role players with a bigger name.

What is the Mavs cap situation?
Could they have gotten Tristin Thompson? He is a free agent after the year and has played on winning teams before. Granted it was with Lebron but still played well at times.

i agree he hasn’t lived up to a top 10 pick, but he hasn’t really been in the best situations either. he played for a terrible kings team, and now was playing with a terrible warriors team. i think he’ll put up better numbers with dallas. regardless, still a solid pickup for the mavs.

they could have if they wanted to go that route. would have been a solid pickup IMO. but this move gives them something they needed, while also still gives them an opportunity to make another move if they choose to. gave up a high second round pick
