Had Clarett come clean in 2003 when that investigation was going on, you'd have been caught cheating sooner and be short a national championship.

I don't think it happens to this extent everywhere, including Ohio St today. I think some benefits are extended at most big time football schools however.....The problem SEC fans have with this is the seeming hypocrisy of some big 10 fans towards the SEC. There's an attitude with some, not all, that the SEC schools are win at all costs football factories while the Big 10 schools are bastions of higher learning. Hell Jim Delany practically said as much.

Exactly. It's pretentious bullshite from the Big 10 and now it's being thrown back in their face.

To be fair, the SEC has a higher percentage of schools that have boosters that are win at all costs. Most Purdue, Indiana, northwestern, etc. football boosters dint really care that much to cheat imo.
There is no difference between Michigan and Ohio State, and mos SEC schools. The majority of SEC schools put a large priority on winning football games over many other aspects, I dont think that's true about the majority of the Big Ten. Hence why the SEC has been really good consistently over the last decade. The Big Ten will never be the SEC, good out bad. That's just facts imo.
But I could be way off base

Could page 1 of this thread been any more of a bitch fest?

It's ok boys, they hired Urban to clean that bad boy up! Get ready for a shitload of first half suspensions for the Illinois game.

It's a shame too because the article is very interesting.
I hope the rumors of a Clarett 30 for 30 happen. The guy is unique in that he is a massive frick-up but unlike most high-profile athlete frick-ups, he is very intelligent and makes meaningful points.

This is old news and has been hashed out for years to same conclusions. In defense of just about every Div. I team - they violate the NCAA rules in some form or another.

Say it aint so?
No way in hell this happened....not in the Big 10?

The Vest was famous..infamous..for having a bible displayed prominently on his office desk, & was big into quoting scripture to recruits. His for the public persona was nothing like his personal persona according to an article in S.Illustrated a few yrs ago. He did much of the same at Youngstown, and now the dirt on what all he did at O.St. is coming out to the public. Yet, he was hoisted on the shoulders of his former players & given a standing ovation at the last game of the yr this past season.

I was at that game. If we boo then we're also booing the entire 2002 National Championship team. That wasn't going to happen. His players loved him. Get the frick over it.
Or we could start a thread about the blatant racists Darryl Royal and Adolph Rupp and how they are revered at Texas and Kentucky.

dedication and hardwork, if you want to have a meaningful lasting career.

Drugs and women were two of the things. Cars were another—he owned three of them at a time, including a brand-new Cadillac and Lexus. "I was living the NFL life in college," he says. "I got paid more in college than I do now in the UFL."

Stars only say this when something goes wrong. If he stayed at OSU and went to the NFL and was successful, mum is the word
Not that I care, since most big time programs are the same and just haven't been caught yet. I mean Bama's booster basically said both they and Auburn pay players, just that Auburn pays more

Trust me, I am way "over" the Vest. Seeing as such that I never gave/give him a second thought. It was only this article that brought him to the forefront. He cheated at Youngstown, he cheated at O.St., so by all means put him on your shoulders and parade him around all you want. But admittedly scratching my head over the comments bout Royal & Rupp. If you think that they were the only racists in college sports back then, you are naive. But the Vest is the one that used his biblical pulpit to make himself look/sound so selfrightous.
