5/$135 million, we still have to see the guaranteed money

Lions could just not and replace him with 18 years of drafts trying to find a QB who can do what he does.. kinda like the browns since 1999

huh?

Every competent QB that gets an extension these day is going to set the record. On top of that people will get caught up in the total number when only the guaranteed money matters

Good for him. He's a good QB and the Lions would be terrible without him.

Nah they should cut him and draft a QB every year until 2035 when they find a decent replacement

Seriously. If he hit free agency, he would get more than they gave him

Glad the Raiders were the first with Carr so that deal looks better and better and better as we go on.

Is this the second time he does this? That last contract was huge too right?

Nah that was the summer with all the mega deals and Rodgers had the biggest overall contract with Romo having the highest guaranteed that year

Matt Stafford is now the highest paid player in NFL history. Not bad for a guy who has less career playoff wins than Tim Tebow

No, that would be the Detroit Lions. Football is a team game last time I checked. QBs don't win games on their own. Detroit, with an average defense, a below average offense, and no running game to speak of, isn't going to beat anyone good consistently until they fix those areas.

Last year, Detroit would not have won a single game without him. He's all they've got and he's put up prolific numbers despite nothing around him. Hell, he made Calvin Johnson, who put up mediocre numbers before Stafford. Stafford should have played out the year and signed somewhere else. Detroit is just sad.

Yeah, I'm sure his life is hell, and he's far from mediocre.
