Deadspin is a lot more than just that site though and the Ringer didn't lose a lawsuit for showing Hulk Hogan's sex tape.

You tell me the digital content site that's a success in the sports world? One that isn't putting out clickbait articles everyday or overly reliant on podcasts for the majority of their traffic

Grantland shut down like 4 months after ESPN let him go

Because he poached the Grantland top management staff for the Ringer and ESPN had no point for it once he was gone. Just fold whoever they wanted and was willing to stay into ESPN like Barnwell and Lowe.

You're basically describing every digital content sports site.

Yeah that's my point. I view Ringer as aspiring to be more than that, & has been for much of it's existence, but it to will eventually succumb to reality

She's the new executive editor, so she's going nowhere.

Still on the fence about the Brandon Walker hire. College football podcast is hit or miss with me.

Seems like an ok guy but I have no idea what exactly he brings to the platform. He’s awkward and seems out of place in that environment. Not in a funny way either.

Too much of the ringer is twenty somethings laughing at their own jokes and talking over each other

I'm not but I think the Ringer has always been to more pod-focused than writing focused like Grantland. Simmons doesn't even write anymore and when they started the Ringer he wanted to abandon longform articles altogether because he wanted it to be a couple minute reads.

I really thought she was like a 65 year old women from hearing her on podcasts.

I did find it funny she spent all offseason saying it’s dumb to not buy into Lamar Jackson bc of one has playoff game, and then she threw a goddamn parade for herself when he had that first really good game

Reap what you sow.... Whole staff at Ringer unionized and are demanding lots more money/benefits.

Management says OK, you want that shite, how about you're fired for having low performing content. Probably would have been much more willing to be kept had they not tried the union thing.

Bill Simmons isn't sounding very woke if he's laying off unionizing employees. This whole situation reminds me of that time the Celtics...

Nicole aurbauch would be a better fit for the ringer than athletic

Tate n Titus know who they are can't say the same of the majority of the ringers staff

Where do we have any evidence that the Ringer is laying off employees for trying to unionize?

I know it’s easy to dump on the Ringer for this, but people love podcasts and they have some great options.
