Louisiana is set to approve a new six-year contract for coach Mark Hudspeth as early as next week, according to a source. Final details are being hashed out.

Hudspeth has posted three consecutive nine-win seasons at Lafayette, and his career record as a college head coach (including seven years at Division II North Alabama) is 93-33, or a 73.8 winning percentage.

The Ragin’ Cajuns were 3-9 before Hudspeth took over. Hudspeth won the first three bowl games in ULL history.

Hudspeth was already one of the Sun Belt’s highest-paid coaches with a reported $750,000 in annual value. Now that Bobby Petrino's out of the league, Hudspeth is likely the Sun Belt's top earner.

I guess North Carolina State or someone like that will have to put up with a bigger buyout when they hire Hudspeth in a year or two.

Best C in the S... probably in the N, really. Saban can't keep up with today's offenses.

Sucks y'all have to seek the approval of the state to resign your coach.

Pretty sure all hires/new contracts at public universities in the state have to be approved.

Yea but usually CBS doesn't report on a coaches contract awaiting the states approval. Unless of course the zany OP changed the wording of the article.
