Was coming to post this.

Packers took him second ahead of Barry Sanders.

quote:

The draft is noted for having four of the first five players selected – quarterback Troy Aikman, running back Barry Sanders, linebacker Derrick Thomas, and cornerback Deion Sanders – being inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.[4] Offensive tackle Tony Mandarich, the only top five pick not inducted, is considered a draft bust.[5]

To be fair, if he went to the Saints or Panthers it probably would've worked out way better for him.

Really Mandarich was a drug/alcohol issue.

Yeah he was a huge bust but not because he just sucked.

What a horrible angle to photograph chase Daniel from.

He looks like a midget.

Patton is 4-5 inches taller than him. The beer gut it gives him because of the mesh is worse.

Magazine covers that did not age well
I guess I fail to see why these covers failed to age well, when they seem entirely appropriate given what we all believed at the time.

I mean yeah, in hindsight, Lance Armstrong represented just about everything (save for surviving cancer) counter to “Sportsman of the Year,” both as an athlete and as a person.

But for a long time he was truly an inspirational figure both for his athletic achievements and his post-cancer “Livestrong Foundation.” He even had a cameo in Dodgeball to use all of those things to get convince Vince Vaughn to not ditch his team.

In fact, I could see you complaining if they didn’t have Sosa/McGwire and Armstrong in those covers while being able to cite how many times the underserving Yankees and Cowboys appeared, with this all being evidence of sports media ramming these big market teams down our throats.

Now this is an example of a cover that didn’t age well, especially about the backup (I don’t even remember him) and the Super Bowl potential.

They finished 61-101. Dead last in all of MLB that year.
