And one of the best ones in college basketball. I can't imagine why an SEC team on a SEC site would comment about their rival though. Surely no other fans here do that on the NCAA or Pro level.

They're just doing anything they can to keep that 2013 banner from being taken down.

Anybody realistically think these guys could make a run in the tourney? No. If they we're ranked in the top 5 and looking at a strong legitimate shot at the title they wouldn't do it.

They've taken a beating early and some in the ACC, but Pitino almost always has his teams tournament ready and they've been a Top 25 team. And I think they're sitting pretty high in the ACC standings.
Were they championship material? Probably not. But they had potential for a decent run if they mirrored previous Pitino teams that struggled earlier in the season.
I have no problem admitting that I hate them with the fire of a thousand suns, but this was a tournament team. And certainly not a "bad" one. It's not a Syracuse cop out, which probably adds more fuel to the fire that the NCAA was ready (and could still) hit them hard.

There's quite a few people who do. Power rankings and advanced metrics have Louisville firmly planted inside of the top 10.

UL is 18 - 4, 2nd in the ACC, 8th in KenPom, 6th in Sagarin, about to jump into the top 12/10 in both polls, and just beat the #1/2 team in the country. Vegas had them 8/1 to win it all yesterday.
Yes, they could have absolutely made a run, especially after Mathiang came back, and they had Onuaku/Mathiang/Mahmoud/Spalding down low. They would have been very formidable. It still wouldn't surprise me to see them either win or come in 2nd in the ACC.

If you're a Tar Heel fan you should be thanking UofL for another distraction from your own shitshow that's been quietly swept under the rug.

Exactly. What a crock of shite for the seniors this year. Do this shite in the off-season where they've got a chance to transfer. Doing it now makes nonsense except it screws your current players.

Louisville's message board is an all out shite show. So many gems...
They are worse than bammers.

Parrish's story on this
:fireemoji:
quote:
Trey Lewis announced he was transferring from Cleveland State to Louisville last April.
While doing so, he said this:
"I just want to play against the best competition [in my senior year], and my dream has always been to go to a Final Four, take a team to a Final Four. And when this situation opened up the way it did, I've got to thank God because He opened this door for me."
And now that door has been slammed shut.
Not by God, of course.
But by Louisville's administration.
:fireemoji:

Again, this is wrong, wrong, wrong. And it's why new rules should be put in place that prohibit postseason bans -- self-imposed or otherwise -- once a semester begins. Any postseason ban, I think, should always be for the subsequent season once a semester begins, that way goals and dreams aren't abruptly ripped from seniors midseason. Then, under my plan, after said season is completed, the seniors move on as they would've regardless while each player with remaining eligibility receives a waiver to transfer and play immediately elsewhere. They wouldn't have to use the waiver, obviously; they could stay put if they wanted. But the waiver, in my plan, would be available, and what's the worst thing that would happen if things were done this way?

The University of Louisville will self-impose a postseason ban on its men's basketball team this season, per source.
That is probably pretty smart. The NCAA goes easier on team's that sanction themselves.

They need more than a season postseason ban doe. They should be forced to swap coaches with LSU. Louisville gets punished by having to have Johnny Jones and Pitino gets punished by having to deal with the Rant.
