Darensburg and Tim Taylor barely played

And they still looked good

But I still have my doubts how good South Plaq is… did they lose a lot to graduation?

I'm sure we have at least one unemployed person on the board who has the time to create a grass vs turf spreadsheet with all schools listed and then compile the data based off answers on this board.

Pineville is the only one on our schedule and that’s just because the administration there does not care about football in any way. They are more interested in the arts allegedly. Their aloofness has allowed ASH to rise due to taking every player in that area.

The split is because of previous leadership
I don’t think any leadership could have stopped the will of the principals in Jan 2013 when it happened
a decade of play in class had class 1a through 3A pretty much in lock step combined with B and C being threatened with extinction. The vote in 2013 was under previous leadership

And who did that? Pro-split principals who needed their votes

yeah but it 7 4a and 5a schools hadn't done the same coercion to get play in class - we likely wouldn't be where we are - this all started with play in class and years of the LHSAA not enforcing rules.

and now people bitch when they do enforce them.

One 5a coach that was very against play in class, called it the day that passed "we just voted to one day have a split in LHSAA" he was against it but his principal voted for it.

and he was at one of the largest private schools in state.

Best thing the LHSAA has did this millennium is remove the ability for schools to vote for things in sports they don’t have… with that in effect the initial football split would have had a much harder time passing… god knows what other dumb stuff was passed for football and other sports over the years by B and C schools

The city of Pineville recently passed a bond measure that includes them getting a turf football field for the 2026 season. So to my knowledge, this will be the final season of natural grass for Pineville.

Also, while I have heard the same thing about the administration... a turf field is expensive and it doesn't JUST come down to admin. Many places simply don't have the money to invest in a football field.

Lastly, I believe I read where Pineville has new Administration this year. So maybe that will turn around for them.

South Plaq is a decent 1A team but that’s about it. They lost a lot and struggle getting kids to practice, but it seems like they’re always still hanging around into November

Well that is unfortunate. With their enrollment they should be competitive in athletics, and unfortunately they are not.
