Why does Little League / ESPN insult Taiwan by calling them Chinese Taipei? (I know all the BS with China claiming Taiwan.) I just don't understand why they would call them that to please China though.

Dixie Youth Baseball is better than Little League FWIW.

Musberger is talking about how tough a region the West is, like he actually knows anything

How can you say that japan is the best team by far? You do realize that a U S team has won six of the last seven championships right?

Probably tough to come that far. I noticed the shortstop who made the error was upset.

It is one of the top ones probably with the Southeast. The SoCal team is always one of the best teams there is simply because they have some many leagues there, the odds are good one will be dominant. In 1998, we went 10-0 through District and State to get to San Bernadino (West Regional) whereas the SoCal team that year was up around 20 because they have an extra round. I think Montana and Alaska had like 3 districts total in their states and were around 5 games total to qualify.

ETA: And we cried when we got axed

Cali's pitcher in the US Final is prob their third best pitcher. The kid that threw today to beat Japan is their "Ace". The kid that beat Montana yesterday is the same one who lost to them 0-1 earlier in the week, but, struckout 10.

Cali wont shed any tears about the way the Tourney is set up. They went undefeated in the West Regional. No Cal played them in the Final despite their loss to them in pool play. If No Cal had won the final, No Cal would have moved on. So Cal won that game in the last inning.

One of my Nephews played on this same team from Hunting Beach last year which lost to Hawaii in the West Final. My other nephew this year just missed making their all star team :(
