Sorry, I vehemently disagree

I know

I don’t think it’s impressive when a player is pulled but given 100s of millions of dollars

A little over a year ago I never would have thought they would have gotten this many big time or even mid tier players, not as fast as they have. It's impressive, regardless of the money.

quote:

If they pulled them without those contracts I would agree.

I mean it wouldn't make much sense for a star player to leave for nothing. They had to give them the money. They just happen to have so much that they can ridiculously over pay them. Slightly different for the mid tier guys since they can now win top tier money every week and not worry about going home empty handed.

quote:

And you said the tour was being cheap, they weren’t. They are now running out of money and over their skis because they have paid the players more to fry and keep up

They wouldn't have had to fork out this much money/raise the purses this much if they would have just been transparent with the players. Instead they treated them like little red headed step children. You don't ignore the people that make your tour the tour that it is.

That was *maybe* 8 out of 54 guys they signed.
The amount of major champions, Ryder/president cup guys, & PGA Tour players that they’ve gotten to buy in to this new team golf aspect is impressive. They also just brought on Caleb Surratt, who is the 3rd amateur to become pro & join LIV

So the other major champs and Ryder cup guys didn’t take millions of dollars?

And gotten into the new team concept? Would they be into the concept without the large sun of money?

quote:

Surratt
likely offered millions as well. Amateur Coody was offered a multi million dollar LIV deal

You’re laughing at something you haven’t even watched before. Most of the guys who play on LIV talk about how much they enjoy the team aspect. It’s not a gimmick. Imagine acting like Jon Rahm & Tyrell Hatton teamed up, but they don’t like the aspect of team golf.

I mean… cmon

Like, yes, some of them care about it because that’s part of their league and they’re also getting paid millions of dollars to have certain talking points. But it also kind of seems like Texas A&M where it’s a cult for those in it, and no one else really cares.

= Typical PGA bot response

Let’s laugh at “team golf”, but obsess over the Ryder Cup & Presidents cup one week a year. But what about Rory’s TGL?

Americans love football. LOVE IT. far more than golf could ever imagine. They die for their teams. Yet nobody gives a flying frick about Xfl or other startups with random teams with ZERO interest

And that’s a sport only based on team play. Golf is even more egregious in terms of people not caring about contrived teams considering it’s an individual sport

Trying to compare the passion of cheering for one’s country every two years to following the Range goats and caring 14 weeks every year is wild

Nobody is ever going to care or buy into Smash or Range Goats. It’s ridiculous to pretend they will

If LIV actually did Ryder Cup type team events more people would watch, but that's not what it is. I doubt many people will care about TGL either outside of mild weekday entertainment.

Oh don’t worry, you’re already invested. Remember how idiotic of a trade it was for Bubba. You’ll be interested to see where they’re at in the standings.

The TGL seems incredibly dumb as of now. And yes, the Ryder Cup and Presidents’ Cup have history and involve the USA against other nations in Match Play.

The LIV match play has been the best part of the league to me. The stroke play hasn’t really worked that much in team events to me. Not saying some people haven’t loved it, but based on ratings and responses, it seems like the vast majority of people are not buying into it.

I don't expect the LIV ratings to show any real improvement this year.

A lot of consumers still don't know about the CW broadcast.
