Wrong. The refs royally fricked this up and/or the nfl is rigged. Tired of the excuses

Technically he was since he was the second OL to the right of the center
That’s right and then 58 was lined up outside of him, then a guy that was in tight but off the line, then the WR on the far right (that looks to be ON the line. As you said before, there was no reason for anyone but 68 to report.

Detroit got too cute and confused the shite out of everybody
Maybe they should re-think using that particular gimmick play with the game on the line. Seems like a lot can go wrong there… and it did.

58 never reported?
Not sure on that but he wouldn’t have needed to because he would have been covered up by the receiver that was split out wide, correct?

Why is nobody talking about Dan cambell saying he was told that two players reported and that that’s not allowed and now the refs aren’t saying anything about that

Or
The official should do his job and make sure he knows who’s reporting and who isn’t.

Ryan Clark going through it again. Says 70 lined up at guard.

It’s on the player(s) in that situation to be 100% clear with the referee. And make sure he heard them.
It’s not on the referee to ask every lineman if he’s eligible or not.

ETA2: best choke artists in the league.
Goodell clearly wants Dallas vs Mahomo and Taylor for viewership. They will try to get it that way.

That’s probably the root of the situation, two players reported as eligible even though only one was actually eligible according to formation rules.
There are 6 OL in on that play but only 68 is not covered up, it’s a clusterfrick.

He acknowledged and ran off to tell the defense a linemen reported. Why would they think he didn’t hear them? He clearly heard them, he just assumed 70 was reporting because he’d done it earlier in the game.
That’s not the players’ fault. It’s the official’s.

Ryan Clark is a fricking moron, 70 is a tackle and 58 is a TE in that formation.

But yes, the ref still fricked up.

Tackles are just as ineligible as guards though, so why does it matter?
Tackles don’t come in and report as ineligible. Why would a guy lining up at tackle go to the official to report?
Bottom line: The official heard a linemen report and just assumed it was #70 because he’d done it earlier in the game. That is on the official.
