I think the issue is that Detroit tried to get a little tricky and have multiple OL around the ref in order to confuse the D. They didn’t anticipate confusing the ref as well
This is why Detroit briefed the refs before the game on this play

There is no issue. No excuses

Ryan Clark just went over the entire play. The formation was clean.

70 lined up at G, on the inside of Sewell

So 68 was really the only eligible OL on that play?

Correct. I think 58 also went to the ref to clarify that he was not eligible. My only guess on that is because the numbers are so similar.

I don’t think so. I think he was at guard.

Just showed it again. 70 never spoke to the official. He clearly went out and spoke to 68 & 58.

Two players didn’t report. 68 reported as eligible. They said 70 reported, who then lined up at guard. Why would a player who’s lining up at OG ever go report as eligible?

That’s the $1mm question

Just had quotes from Allen. He said that 70 reported. He clearly fricked up. Very clearly never looks at 70.

70 reported as eligible multiple times in the game and he got the number wrong.

Ref just doubled down postgame that 70 reported not 68

Either the ref got the confused or the 2 OL fricked up and wont admit it

Basic logic says a guy lining up at fricking guard would never be going to the ref to report eligibility, but some are slow to this

I think Brad Allen was used to saying 70 was eligible from earlier in the game and fricked up.

The frickup here is clearly on the ref since he goes and reports to the defense on who is eligible and never announces it on the mic. #68 is wide open since the defense believes he is ineligible, Detroit had multiple afterwards to score again and came up short.

Don’t put this on Dallas for the refs fricking up once again in tight situations.

I don’t think Another player can’t report someone as eiligible. 70 never spoke to the official. 68 did.

ETA: Meaning you have to report yourself as eligible.

Not only did he double down on the 70 reporting, he also is claiming they threw a flag for illegal formation due to 70 being covered up (because he was at guard)

They're really going to die on this hill, aren't they? The NFL has to suspend him immediately.

Possibly. I can’t positively tell from the angle if the guy that was split out wide right was on or off the line. Looks to me like he’s on, which would have made him the eligible receiver on that side.

In no parallel universe is a guy lining up at guard going to the ref to report eligible for a play whilst at guard

No one is putting this on Dallas other than the conspiracy nuts.

The statement he released suggests this. He still fricked up though.

I believe the ref said 70 was at tackle.

The ref clearly has no clue who was where.
