The Knicks have decided not to match Jeremy Lin's offer sheet with the Rockets, according to a report.

Lin signed a three-year, $25.1 million offer sheet with the Rockets that includes a balloon payment of $14.9 million in the third season.

The most the Knicks could offer Lin was $16.13 million on a three-year deal, and $28.75 million over five years.

Lin was forced to establish his own market and initially agreed to a three-year, $19.5 million deal with the Rockets that included a third year of $9.3 million. New York was prepared to match that offer sheet and the Rockets subsequently increased their offer to the contract he eventually signed.

The Knicks' front office has seemed intent on not matching Lin's offer sheet in recently days, but the final decision would be made by owner James Dolan.

Then why would he agree to restructure the deal? His agent knew for sure.

I really don't think he ever wanted to leave, he basically just played the knicks into over paying him. It would be great if he was a rocket and just withered away.

I think Lin and his agent fricked up. They didn't realize what this would mean to the knicks as far as luxury tax implications.

Knicks are run by a bunch of morons. Lin was making stuff happen last year. It was the first time in a while the Knicks future looked bright. But of course that now looks short lived. Big mistake NY.

lol, the miraculous play and luck of a 4th string PG against a schedule of the worst teams in the league for a month means the future looks bright?

Let's not forget you've got the black hole in Carmelo and an overrated Amare Stoudemire. I guess an annual 7-8th seed in the EAST is a bright future.

but but but, we're getting Dwight Howard by trading away our entire roster.

I can't wait to see a 4th string point guard, Dwight Howard, and 3 scrubs play at the Toyota Center this year.

Then next year we will sign CP3 and Dwight will have fallen in love with Houston at that point!

Morey was an idiot to let Dragic walk and then sign Lin (a very unproven player) to an offer sheet just $2 million short of Dragic's deal with the Suns. I think Lin wont be what he was before and we are going to end up with a bad unmovable contract Jared Jeffries style.
