West jeff hasn't been relevant since then
actually in early mid 80s.. they were awfully good.. just ran into Neville teams that were better in semis.. and
got robbed by the LHSAA in 81....belated discovery of an ineligible player used by team that beat them in only district loss then forfieted put eventual state champ ehret in playoffs.. along with slidell and left bucs at home... bucs and slidell should have been in.....no wildcards then....

Can anyone catch me up on why Holy Cross has been so bad this year? The School's growing and they have been somewhat successful lately.
They have the faced the toughest schedule in the state thus far by playing 5A Slidell, Chalmette, Jesuit, Rummel, Fountainbleau, are a young team, and have had alot of injuries this year. (Against Rummel a few weeks ago, they had to play without all five starting OL).

That's not the toughest schedule in the state, not even close. Evangel's schedule is head and shoulders tougher.

Sorry, JJ...they have the toughest schedule of all of the 4A teams in the state (acc. to Ken Ramsey's power ratings)

Again, I am just looking at Ken Ramsey's site, which lists St Thomas More at #9 and Karr at #12 in schedule strength.

Power ratings are easy to manipulate. You can play shitty teams that are higher class and rack up.

ChalmetteOwl,
I'm guessing by reading up on the thread that your crowd wasn't representative of what you've been getting the rest of the year?
The stadium is fantastic, overall, love the light up sign on the outside of the pressbox. I assume the lack of visitor locker room will be solved when the field house is finished?
The guys who did the National Anthem, were freaking awesome; great players, in-tune, that was simply great.
For whatever reason, I don't perceive the Crusader support as being very loud, of course, Tad Gormley is not the most conducive stadium, but I was on the other side of our band, and really didn't hear much from our crowd. But then, I listen to the band while I watch the game.
My son's in the band, and I think (biased dad) that they're great, and fun, as well.

lol you saw our side at the opening kickoff...
i thought we had a good showing last weekend at gormley, but if we're going to be 5-2 as a class 5A team, playing high-profile opponents, we need to get Holy Cross/playoff level support every week.
i've heard our national anthem done better by the way. they used to be very good, but friday night wasn't their best performance
i don't like the way every team including us takes up the whole section for the band and whoever... it cuts off one side of the stands from the other side. if it was up to me i'd put the band in the end zone a la west monroe. enough attendance and i'd put bleachers in the other one too. if we still had a grass field i'd put barricades behind the end zones and let fans get closer there
as for the field house, i don't know what the plans say... having the visitors locker room would be logical, and i don't think there will be enough room to put home and visitors in there.

I'm a musician, so take that, as you will. I thought the guys were great, if they can be even better, that's got to be tremendous. And the arrangement, with the moving parts above and below the melody were intricate and on point, IMO.
Our band director, normally, takes the end two sections for the Debs and the band; especially at Tad Gormley or West/East Jeff. The end section, where I sat, nearest the scoreboard, is really a half-section. The actual structure though looks really good. I also like the colored grill-work on the railings, it works, and looks great.
One of my son's friends, in the band, was pale and pukey when we got into the stadium, so I walked him out to Palmisano Blvd. until his parents could come for him, so the 1st was nearly over by the time I got to walk back inside. THEN, wifey's blood sugar dropped, so I was immediately back downstairs getting food for her.
Not to be a jerk, but the P.A. guy loves him his voice a bit much.
Do the Owls go into a actual locker room? Our guys were simply sitting under the stadium.

maybe i should root for a city school because i thought our band has been weak all year... since 2000 it hasn't been great, but it was better than it is now. this game we had some band alumni playing with us and we played dixie, which is an off-and-on thing nowadays
now yalls is far bigger and i could tell. i'm not that musically inclined and i'm there for the football anyway.
we don't go into our locker room at half, but just outside it where there's a fenced off area under the stadium
i'm wondering where al's (the PA guy) accent has gone... you can tell he's had professional training which isn't always a good thing at the high school level
next week is rummel... another blowout probably, hopefully not too bad, then i get to enjoy the cochon de lait postgame since i grew up in metairie. lots of family and friends went to rummel and i've went to a fair amount of their games in the past

I'll be working the Cochon the entire weekend, EXCEPT for Saturday evening. I go play my 4:00 Mass, then to the game at Tad Gormley.
If you're around very late, my wife and friends are working Iced Tea/Lemonade. I'll be around. It's right next to inside beer.
