I think he attempted to fire LCA's version of Radio - who has a son playing his senior year- and it didn't go over well.
The word I have is he fired a coach who has been at the school for a long time and was instrumental in the rise of the football program without clearing it with anyone in the administration or even notifying them.
I do not have details of how Lockhart firing went down after that. Whether it was an “it’s him or me” situation or a ‘“you can’t do that, pack you bags” deal is not information I have.

If a head coach is not allowed to set his staff as he sees appropriate, it is not going to work.
Putting two long time assistant coaches as co-HCs is dumb and screams this HC was let go because "he's not one of us".
Which is why this hiring as HC was so odd in the first place. Coach had a meh record at best, and LCA seems like a very insular place, so bringing in a meh outsider seemed like it was going to be a bad idea.
New coach probably had new ways he wanted to do things, that didn't sit well with the parents and players, and when the parents pay the tuition... it's easier to let the HC go.

This is high school and a small high school to boot. There is a protocol for hiring and firing and he completely bypassed that.

Not sure they are both long time coaches and I am fairly certain this is only a temporary measure. My son played football there through the 2016 season and at least one of the coaches was not there when he finishes and in his senior year they hire Trev Faulk and turned over much of the coaching staff. If there are issues at LCA, it is not changing coaches when they see fit nor is it sticking with internal people simply for that reason.

I heard this from someone in the stands Friday night. Someone with younger kids at LCA.

That was not a problem in previous coaching changes but I have heard that players were grumbling quite a bit.
This year and off-season should be interesting.

I would have thought that the public schools he is used to would have more of a process and a procedure than a private school.
Also, firing a head coach midseason for "not following protocol" is extreme.
Was it that he did not follow protocol, or was it the admin was not happy with the actual decisions? Big difference.

The whining and complaining from players and parents in youth sports - including high school sports - seems to be getting worse at an exponential pace
Plus, let's be honest, winning causes a lot of those complaints to tamp down. .

Someone on Facebook said that a coach that was let go in the past will be the HC next year. The only coach I know that was let go was Carter. Did you hear anything like that?

Fired coaches interview from The Acadiana Advocate:
Acadiana Advocate

"During the meeting they told me that I needed to fire longtime LCA Coach Skip Babineaux for 'berating' our team in front of the parents on the field after I had already talked to the team with a positive message and prayed with them and dismissed them," Lochard wrote in the text message.
When contacted by phone Tuesday and asked about Lochard's recollection of the meeting and whether he or Lantier instructed Lochard to fire Babineaux, Miller declined to comment.
Lochard said he wasn't present for Babineaux's post-game speech and only knew what he was told.
"I went to my office to upload the film and type in the score on the LHSAA website," Lochard wrote. "I did not hear Coach Skip's message to the team, but they said he threatened to kick anyone off the team who walked on the practice field on Monday, and told them they are 'Hollywood' and are only concerned with showing off for the cameras, instead of playing hard for their team. A couple players parents heard this and told Pastor Jay about it, and reported that I wasn't around."
Babineaux confirmed he used the threat of having players removed from the team for walking during practice and using the "Hollywood" reference.
Lochard said after the meeting concluded, he prayed with Miller and Lantier before driving to meet with Babineaux in person.
"I followed my orders from Pastor Jay and Devin Lantier and drove to Coach Skip's house at 10 p.m. to tell him to his face instead of over the phone that he was being relieved of his coaching duties immediately," Lochard wrote. "Coach Skip and I talked for almost an hour, I apologized to him and told him how much I appreciated him, and we hugged each other, cried together and told each other we love each other and have each other's back moving forward."
Babineaux confirmed his firing Sunday night "for a speech I had after the game" in a Facebook post. The post on social media drew the ire of many people and resulted in Babineaux receiving a tremendous amount of public support and well wishes.
"Well the cat out the bag. LCA let ol coach skip go for a speech I had after the game," Babineaux wrote in the post. "... No I didn't cuss. No I didn't fight. No I didn't a grab a kid. No I didn't (break) nothing. No I didn't steal. No I didn't disrespect nobody. I just told the truth."
However, Monday it would be Lochard who was fired and Babineaux was offered his job back with the Knights, which he announced on Facebook he accepted.

I will have to ask my son. I think he said there are rumors regarding a former assistant, not a former head coach. If it were a former head coach who is not from the previous season (Trev or Hunter Landry), then it would be either Carter or Derek Landry and I do not think either of those is going to be the guy.

Well that sounds like a great school to work for.. I patiently await more info because I can’t fathom a school going the route described in that article.

Sounds like the parents that called on Sunday had bigger wallets and more sway than the ones who they talked to on Friday.

I don't picture the LCA parents as the big wallet types.
