There's a lot of old big time squads from the Br area that have gone down the crappeer as of late.

STM vs west gate Friday

Two 0-2 teams looking to get back on track

STM has barbe, evangel and then Teurlings. They better get a win this week or it could get ugly in a hurry in cougartown

They're last good team was 2009 with Terrance Broadway at QB. Since then, they've got down 5 wins each season. Last year, they went 0-10.

They'll probably win 1 or 2 games this year though.

Fontainebleau hasn't been worth a damn since my senior year.. would have been the 2006 season.

When Favre left, the team went down the shitter

were you at that epic quarter final game vs Bro martin @ gormley in '06?

prob the best high school game I've ever been to. If I remember correctly, bulldogs won on a last second field goal of like 40 yards.

I was there. It was awesome.

I believe Fontainebleau actually blocked the tying FG late in the game to secure the win.

That FHS team was so sick with Korte and Ducre both in the backfield. They destroyed us (although they were playing with a chip on their shoulder after losing to us the year before).

That's right. I didn't even notice the year or the "round" he posted. Just saw the opponent and it triggered my memory.

I actually went to FHS's first 3 playoff games that year. They beat Carver in the first round, Brother Martin in the second and Ehret in the quarters (Chris Mitchell was a beast).

Then ran into a buzz saw at WM. The idiotic FHS students were chanting "overrated" to WM before the game. Lesson learned.

I'll be at that game. It looks to be a really good game. You have one the top dual threat QB's in the state going against the top running back in the state. It will probably be a high scoring game. If my Purple Knights control the ball with Fournette eating up big chunks of ground, that should keep Rummel's QB on the sideline and force him and his team to make plays if their defense can't stop the run. If the defense crowds the line, we have an experienced QB with WR's who are more than capable of beating single coverage. I'm only hoping for a fairly officiated game this time. It seems that every time we play Rummel at Yenni, we get hosed on the calls. In '09 a ref standing less than 10 yards from the play called a reciever out of bounds when he CLEARLY got BOTH feet in. in '11, after we recovered what clearly was a fumble and began to return it, the refs blew the play dead 5 yards down field and gave the ball back to Rummel at the spot where they blew the whistle. I understand bad calls every now and then but this happens too often and in the same stadium against the same opponent. Hopefully, tomorrow night that will change.

McMain travels up to Slidell to face Salmen tonight. It's gonna be a high scoring game and I hope McMain can keep up. So far WR Michael Andrade has been damn near unguardable and we ran the ball decently against Newman last week. McMain's defense leaves much to the imagination though...

ETA: McMain ranked #10 in 3A!!!

Andrade was by far the best player in that game. McMain has some talent for sure.

You ever notice how your Purple Knights never lose a game because the opponent was better?

Apparently, Rummel's QB is out with a hammy

The one in 2009 was pretty horrible man. Marc Edwards had two feet in. We outplayed them that night. Here is the link just click on the Rummel score. LINK

Who knows.. I went to the game in the dome last weekend. The offense was abysmal. 46 total yards. Granted, Lincoln's defense was stout, but I talked to Dickens (SPS's o-line coach) before the season started and he said this may be the best group he's had at SPS (he started in 04). The offensive line was miserably porous all night. It doesn't help that they don't have a back that is bigger than 5'8 170 lbs (including fullbacks) or a decent WR threat, other than the TE.

That being said, the defense is pretty damn good. They are extremely fast and strong up front. They won't allow very many points in district play.. if the offense can keep them off the field.

I'm not really sure how McD35 is this year either though. If I were to guess, they are far superior in terms of talent, but if they fall behind early, they quit. (I hate to stereotype those teams, but they all seem to play this way).
