End of the game was something I’ve never seen before. We get a first down. Go to clock it. Clock it successfully. Clock stops. Ref says it doesn’t count because the chains weren’t set. Rolls the clock. Our kids don’t have a clue as we are screaming to clock it. Mass confusion. Last play is a cluster. Ball game.

Had the ball been set for play?

Pville wins and will make their first playoffs ever. Hopefully we can play someone tough for a bit next week.

But we will be much better next season

Their district probably gets easier next year too. Mostly likely scenario is the Livingston Parish schools are combined with Zachary, Central, and Catholic and the AP schools pick up Liberty and Woodlawn.

They ever say how bad he was hurt? Looked like he hurt his ankle pretty bad bad from what I could see. He’s a fine back.

If that happens Livingston Parish can pick up Hammond and Ponchatoula too so we can slide into the St. Tammany district

But didn’t Livingston and Ascension specifically want to get away from Catholic? That’s why they formed their own district

The easiest solution would be to put us in the River Parishes district and call it a day. Recombine the two Northshore districts into 1 like they were for years

And Zachary.

It should never have been allowed - schools shouldn’t get to hand pick their district to run from competition.

It’s all moot though. Scotlandville will be 4A next year which means EBR will only have five 5A schools left.

Geographically, it makes the most sense to combine Central, Catholic, and Zachary with the LP schools. That will be a pretty tough district in all sports.

AP would get Woodlawn which is already next to AP, and Liberty.

Gave up 2 return TDs on special teams too.

Yep. This is where WM got beat by both Neville and Ruston.

Pass coverage is lacking too. WM coaches have to get these two areas corrected.

Get these two phases of the game corrected and WM is hard to beat.

I didn’t think that was even possible anymore.

Div 1 you don’t get extra power points for playing teams in higher divisions

Our opponents records:
4-6
8-2
4-6
0-10
4-5
2-8
3-7
2-8
6-4
6-4

We lost to all 3 teams with winning records and 1 of the 4-6 teams

Neville played a great game. ASHbplayed the worst game, aside from Karr, in three years. Just looked like shite. Lost every position battle on the field offensively. Defense was ok, but lost offensively in every aspect.

Also that everyone is so similar and has the resources, enrollment, community, and facilities to win… especially in nonselect. Select has some of the best situations and worst in the state which creates polarization, but nonselect (except for not having the high-end elite, basically Karr, Evangel, John Curtis) is the closest thing to the super league top to bottom that everyone says they want to see. It just gets a bad rap around here because there aren’t any NOLA or JP proper teams in it.

The NOLA media establishment wants you to believe that select is the superior division, but in the eyes of the state and officially, select and nonselect are equal. Maybe in the lower classifications it’s not, but that’s not my concern

If we were to tell kids you don’t have to go through Karr and John Curtis in our district and division… we could peel a LOT of kids from BM, HC, DLS, Jesuit, etc.

I know some like small-town football but it’s okay to feel like they get a little more media coverage than they deserve sometimes…

We only needed like three more wins combined from all those teams to get in

Their D line was quick.

Anyone got a read on the final D1 power ratings? Don't have a Geauxprep sub.

Sumner 21
Amite 7

Sumner’s first undefeated regular season in school history. First round bye. It’s a shame that a rural, public school that doesn’t pull players from anywhere has a once in a lifetime team, and basically has little to no chance to overcome an LCA team from a school created to recruit and have great football teams. No one says that they will even meet, but it’s really unfortunate, imo.

Absolutely. Been very impressed by the job the new coach has done so far. WM actually looks like a contender again. I don’t think it will be this year but they should be back in the dome soon

The views of Select and Non-Select probably vary widely across the state.

There’s definitely going to be a bias against Non-Select in the NOLA area because so many good schools are concentrated in Select Div 1.

It’s more evenly split across the state. BR has Catholic in Select, but there’s also a lot of NS schools, including Central and Zachary.

Lafayette is heavily titled towards Select.

Monroe is the opposite of New Orleans. Traditional powers WM, Neville, and Ruston are all Non-Select.

Shreveport is really balanced. There’s rarely an elite team, but it’s a big district with both Select and Non-Select teams taking turns beating each other up.

If you look at enrollment numbers for the schools I named, kids are being peeled. To where, idk. Good football players are at Karr. But they can’t have EVERY good football player. There’s only 22 starter spots.

But you can have a 5 team district and if Liberty is improving it will be competitive as hell

Unofficial D1 select

Karr v St Aug rematch in the dome would draw a big crowd.
