Catholic High N.I. - 20
Vermillion Catholic - 0

I don’t know how good VC is going to be this yr, but this is a good win to start CHS’s title defense.

St. Martinville is supposed to be very good this year though.

All I can say about St Martinville is if they want to have a successful season, their QB Francisco better stay healthy because he is 95% of their offense.

Cecilia will start the season 1 - 3. They have to play St. Amant and Central (BR) in the next 3 weeks. They went the lazy way in hiring a new coach.

And at St. Amant at that. They hired the hometown former player. Don't feel like there was any serious coaching search really. It really is a new era in Cecilia football.

Bulldogs had a few uncharacteristic special teams foul ups that cost them a couple of scores and the QB had absolutely no downfield passing threat. Lots of clock mismanagement and questionable playcalling.

Bright side is Calais, who should be back next year was dominant throughout the game and played both ways. Hope he can remain healthy as well because he is an extremely physical player.

My son is a senior at C E Byrd and we got slapped around against Ruston in our scrimmage. My buddy’s son is a senior at Ruston. They did struggle some against Neville in jamboree. This is supposedly a down year for Ruston but who knows. They are definitely a young team.

Eta: I haven’t been to Ruston high game(at Ruston) in years. Definitely a good, old school Louisiana football environment there.

I watched this one. It was a good game but sloppy. STM shot themselves in the foot with dropped passes and penalties.

Carencro has a more balanced offense than they did in the past which was hard to stop.

LCP beat St. Freds 55-21

Loyola QB Bryce Restovich looked really good. He looks to be getting interest from in state schools.

that's one way to quell the rise in brawls and players leaving the sideline. I like it.

Credit to that coach. He knew his kids fricked up and wasn't bitching about the refs.

I am guessing the perpetrators may well be former players by the next game.

I dont know that, it is so hard to tell, that veer gel and you get a new team. I am sure they will be fine, they had big numbers out and a winning culture. But we scrimmage them each year, they normally take it to us physically. This year was different. I thought maybe we were just unstoppable on the DL, but although we beat Sterlington and WF handily, our DL didnt just dominate them like they blew up Acadiana.

Before someone points to the scores being tied at the scrimmage, scrimmage rules negate turnovers, and Acadiana just gave it away constantly. They scored on two busted pass coverages.....that is not something I have seen Acadiana needing....years past they just shoved it down our throat.

Easy sentiment to have in September… but if a playoff game is forfeited due to a total nothingburger…

Owl with the continuing rise of fights and brawls drastic measures are needed. It’s the only thing quelling it.

43 running clock games, the gap between the haves and have not's grows wide

Running clock threshold needs to be 49… the problem with 35 is that a running clock doesn’t stop. You want to be damn sure a game is that big a mismatch.

I mean we had them in the highest classification state championships… (also don’t want any in the quarterfinals or later)

Also how many of those games were competitive last year? That happens in year 2 of schedule cycles. In week 1, nobody plays a district game; every butt-kicking this week was signed up for. Theyll find appropriate opponents next year

35 last year - some flip flopped from competitive to blow out and vice versa.

the threshold is 42 not 35. But if both coaches agree it can start earlier(not counting those).
