Regardless, your point is still great. These games are shite and nobody goes anymore. Once again, anything public run in this state turns into shite. They even managed to ruin high school football

Don’t know. What we have now isn’t it.

Old system is better than this.

What? 34K watched WM vs Evangel in the Independence Bowl in 2001 in a regular season game. The 99 game the entire bottom two decks were full and there were people in the upper deck.

It’s sad to see what the attendance is now.

Anarchy...open up the lines and let kids go wherever they want as long as they can get to/from school. The playing field has never been level, so why act like it has been? You have magnets DOMINATING 4A and no one says a thing. Why not do that state wide?

It seemed to work best when the privates played up. Evangel in 5A and Curtis in 4A produced some great playoff years. Curtis in 2A and Evangel in 1A was completely unfair. The teams in those two classifications started every year knowing that they had no chance at a state championship.

Yeah... blame the big 5A and 4A publics. They forced Evangel and JC to play down. When the split was first put up to vote years ago, Public schools had been dominating the 4A and 5A state championships. When the vote was put up, both Acadiana and West Monroe voted FOR the split. More trophies, less competition. That’s what the public schools wanted. And as fans we got a shittier product with less big matchups.

Edit: I only single out Acadiana and WM cause of how much success they had without the split vs all private schools EXCEPT Evangel. Evangel and JC had lost their recruiting dominance, so what was the motivation to split out competitive schools?

5A state championships 05-2013

05- WM over Acadian
06- Acadiana over Sulphur
07- Destrehan over Acadiana
08- Destrehan over WM
09- WM over Rummel (31-0)
10- Acadiana over WM
11- WM over Carencro
12- Rummel over Barbe (time to kick the Privates out!!! They recruit)

If memory serves correctly, all schools listed above except Rummel voted for the split. It really was a bitch move by all the dominant public schools. They voted out competition, so they could guarantee their schools had an easier route to the dome.

That's pretty much to be expected with two NOLA schools. Support is never terribly great. I'd expect a bigger crowd on the Karr side than on Easton's side.

I didn't think that Destrehan voted for the split. I could be mistaken though. Someone posted a link to the split votes a few years ago. Can't find that link though.

Athletic

Spot on but split vote was really carried by 1a, 2a, B and C votes

Does seem like more people on the Karr side.

They normally have the bands in opposite endzones but this year they're in the same endzone. It's pretty stupid. With both teams playing you can't make out anything at they're so close to each other.

All of Orleans Parish should be select. These just happen to be two of the most popular schools kids want to go to on the OneApp...along with both having stellar football programs

The two big proposals in January are 1) to reunify and put a 1.5x multiplier on all select schools or 2) to expel all the private schools from the LHSAA.

I think one has to do with the other

Yes, Orleans Parish really does have the most talent in the state. The charter operators are doing what the OPSB couldn’t before Katrina and putting legit coaches at some of those programs

Meh. 50% of their student population is selected upon academic credentials or on student’s priority. That’s way more “selective” than what occurs at Byrd, McKinnely, and Scotlandville

I'm not sure why Karr let the time run down like that before the half

only among the students who already select them

Wonder how many choices each student has on their application.
