Of course, in spirit I am with Z and the refs as they work to defeat WM. I see a boat race coming.

Only this time it won't cost Ponchatoula their first state championship in 80 years.

Congratulations, East St. John!

You finished 8-2, got the 11 seed, won your first round game. Your reward? Drive 6 hours to take on a crappy 5-5 27 seed! Because Airline shat the bed. Because "it's not fair" to make a bad football team travel 2 weeks in a row. Even though Haughton had to drive 20 minutes for their "road game."

The LHSAA home/road rules are so fricking stupid.

comical, losing to a bad HC team will do that. Also had AIrline won you still travel. only 11 miles shorter.

if Delhi Charter and Hanson win DC will have been on the road for 3 weeks going to plaquemine, nola and franklin... I don't see them whining

Not only that, but nearly the exact flipped situation occurred to Airline in 2019. Airline the #8 seed won at home against Southside while #24 ESJ upset Central giving ESJ the second round home game.

Sucks but that's how it goes

Let's make a new rule though. No higher seeded team on the 10-12 corridor or the 20 corridor should have to travel past Alexandria after the 1st round.

So you want to go back to the old bi district unseeded model?

That had a lot of problems as well.

You could do a N LA playoff and a S LA playoff and winners meet in the dome... but the lines would have to be different for each class. In the larger classes, S LA has tons of schools, in the smaller classes, it's N La that has tons of schools.

Yes many times top 5 teams met in bi district or regionals -

9-16 seeds travel no matter what in the 2nd round.

Select Division III is probably the most interesting bracket. Really interested in the next couple of rounds.

Newman and St. Charles should have easy victories this week, but there are several other games that should separate the other contenders.

No. 9 Country Day at No. 8 University Lab
I expect U-High to roll.

No. 11 Loyola Prep at No. 6 Episcopal
No. 10 Parkview Baptist at No. 7 North Caddo
#5 Calvary easily handled both Loyola and N. Caddo. I’m interested how both fare against similarly seeded teams.

Madison Prep is a charter that excels at football and basketball. Along with a few other selective enrollment schools (SU Lab, UHigh, etc) they have made just about every sports program in East Baton Rouge Schools (the school district, not the parish) an afterthought. Exceptions being schools like Scotlandville and Woodlawn.

Don’t know much about St Louis but Madison Prep is a solid program with athletes.

The District is responsible for that

Absolutely. Didn’t mean to infer otherwise if I did. EBRPSS is a dumpster fire even by Baton Rouge standards.

Even in the power points era, the real state championship has occurred in an early round. Exhibit A: 2014 Acadiana-Ponchatoula
