I suppose he is saying that Evangel and Curtis have accepted joining Div II and now they need the 4A teams to agree, but that doesn't really make sense. I probably won't have time to talk to some coaches till another week or two. It'll be interesting to hear about the behind the scene stuff going on right now.

what he is saying is that 3a already has curtis and eca.... why make it worse... I know this principal pretty well.... he has long felt that ECA and JC should be playing in the highest class..

actually he worked with/talked with another principal about developing a plan to add a factor to select schools in each class to bump many up one class - which at the end of the day is most fair... also.. fair to let schools that wanna play up all the way do so.. but .. again the people that killed that in the first place will NEVER let that happen again.... or play up in just one sport...which also is fair.

the biggest travesty and one I hope is remedied before the next reclassification is that 5A nonselect still has 50+ teams and 1A nonselect has 27

that is the second biggest travesty.... the biggest travesty is that the schools with the most resources and ability to deal with curtis and eca... kept them out of their class.... and forced them on smaller schools.. with the voting help of schools that don't currently, never have and never will play football....

So Riverside should have to play up in basketball, Brusly should have to wrestle up, OCS should play up in football, Episcopal should have to run up in xc, etc? If you have success in a sport, and figure out how to do well with the resources you have, you must be forced to play up with those who have more students and better resources?

Exactly. And this "cluster" is exactly why the LHSAA won't exist, at least not in the same capacity, in 2 years, maybe as early as next summer. Watch when the public schools vote that the privates have to use a third party to give financial aid. You think that aggression will stand, man?

No one answered me so I'll ask again. If the attendance zones are the Parish lines, why split public and private?

from 2 of the principals that I have talked to this week - both non select....

they feel as though the LHSAA has made it's bed and doesn't like lieing in it now and will get worse.. much worse...

the other is amazed there has not been a move to over throw the leadership.... putting curtis in 5a would cinch that.. or at least a lawsuit stopping split...

I think what we are seeing is the beginning of the end of the LHSAA unless someone steps up and provides some insight leader ship and balls...

Depends on what it entails. If it means you aren't eligible for a year vs. not being eligible at that school ever, that is a big difference. Plus, just because the parish is the lines for athletics doesn't mean the schools will have the same boundaries for their kids. That will be an issue.

It depends on how far some of the publics try to take it and how they can be outmaneuvered by the privates.

For one thing, I can see the privates using the big schools' tactics against them by co-opting Class B and Class C to vote for measures in favor of the private schools in exchange for preserving those classes.

I forsee all publics being in their own league, the southern LA private schools all breaking up into their own leagues, and the small teams in North and West LA all joining Texas and Mississippi leagues.

you keep saying that but it took a few more votes than just 5A to put those schools in 1A and 2A

I almost don't care about Curtis as it relates to my team. we played them once in the 1994 playoffs and will probably never play them again. right now if we lose kids to them we deserve to. they win championships and put kids into D1. the only thing we have over them is that we put 4,000 people on our side once a year.

my worries about this issue will be that our main rivals might leave the LHSAA over this and we can't play them again

correct....5a, 4a, B and C voted en mass for play in class.. way back when... just like...

5A,4a,b and c and of course 2a voted en mass for play up one class and split..

4a schools in Nola voted from play up 1 class to get rid of HC, Shaw and ST. A.....

2a... obvious...

The split is coming. It would have happened this year had anyone had an idea how dumb the LHSAA would react to the situation. RIP NOLA and BR public school sports. No one will ref those games and the Catholic league will be more open to giving out scholarships, so the quality of those teams will degrade as well.

You must only know NO area principals.

The LHSAA is a PRINCIPALS ONLY organization. This is what they want. Leadership is only doing what they are told to do ... by the PRINCIPALS

Yeah, I know principals too. About 50 of them. LHSAA aint going anywhere. The courts have already ruled that they are a private orgnization. Cannot be legislated to act against their will. If a school doesnt like the rules, simple solution. Dont join

I think we should play more St. Tammany teams anyhow
