Talent dropped at E.A. after the 21 class graduated. Not sure what they have coming up either. May be some tough years baseball wise.

So they play 2/3 then in the semis go back to one game series?

Don’t quite understand logic of this.. seems backwards?

LHSAA wants their showcase event... baseball was one of the last sports to have state championship games at home fields, and separate tournaments for every classification (remember when 8 5A teams made state as opposed to 4 in the other classes? that ended in 2013)

Changing next year for selects. 2/3 every round. Semifinals hosted by high seeds. Finals at neutral site.

Better for baseball

Move DII/3A back to Crowley. Nothing better than going to Crowley every year in the 2000s and watching Parkview push some poor team’s poo in. They did it to Chalmette in 2005 after Chalmette’s big boy pitcher said he was going to shut Parkview out.

This is the way to go. I miss when each class played at a university. 5A at Tulane for example, or at Zephyr Field.

What happens with the kids that graduate before the championship game? Are they still eligible?

never really paid attention. I kind of assumed they were, but Mrs. udtiger mentioned that CHS' graduation was on the 14th and I got to wondering.

St. Amant and Dutchtown are nationally ranked on MaxPreps. Dutchtown is 14th, St. Amant is 18th, and Barbe fell from 7th to 19th. Not really sure how they determine who’s nationally ranked, but I’m very surprised Sulphur isn’t in the top 25. Going into the playoffs, I thought they were the second best team in 5A, behind Barbe.

I saw on my feed this morning that Dutchtown had their graduation ceremony just for their baseball players last night because they play West Monroe the exact same time as the real graduation.

West Monroe did the same. It's a tradition now. The goal is to graduate on the baseball field.

So the highest seed is the lowest ranked. Good deal. WM is crazy young with 1 senior in the field and 1 at DH routinely. Sometimes another starts in the OF. Federico-Ole Miss, Pearson-LSU, Hawsey-Will play P5, are all sophomores. The 2 starting pitchers should WM play 2 games this weekend are a sophomore and freshman. There's a LH 8th grader coming that's been clocked at 88. Freshman catcher has the highest OBP on the team. Another freshman started the year in the lineup before predominantly becoming a runner. IF WM can find a way to win 2 more games, they are set up to go on a run for a few years.
