Seeing as there are probably 5 people on the planet still alive from the last time the cubs won the world series, yea 1990 is pretty recent.

Not that it means shite, but Soriano is crushing the ball this spring
Good. He was always fun to watch. Slim guy, but such power generated from his quick wrists.

Dan, Campana is just a reserve outfielder. He's not an everyday guy, but he's pretty useful off the bench.
Yeah, I agree. Man he's fun to watch on the base paths though.
I'm not a Cubs fan, but I'm definitely ready for Cubs baseball to be back.

look I'm not trying to defend the cubs. just saying must of us didn't have pubes yet last time the Reds won the WS. So I'm not sure puffing your chest out as a Reds fan really is the best idea.

I never brought up the reds in this thread till you did.

They've won 3 in my lifetime. Not many teams can say that.

Let's Talk Cubs Baseball: The Outfield
I see this thread didn't go as you planned. Not much Cubs outfield talk going on in here.
quote:
Blake DeWitt and Bryan LaHair can also play in the outfield.
DeWitt is no longer on the 40 man roster. And I don't see LaHair moving to the outfield unless both he and Rizzo are tearing it up at the plate, and they're forced to call Rizzo up. But then you have to make room for LaHair, and that would mean trading Byrd.

I'm a bit mad that Brett Jackson won't start the year in the majors
I'm ok with him getting some more seasoning.

Joe Mather
Hearing good things about him as a key bench player.

I like what I hear from Sveum. I think he can do well if the "Chicago pressure" doesn't get to him.

DeWitt is making the team. And I put LaHair in the outfield more of like "he has legs and eyes that work". LaHair also played a little OF last year in a pinch.
There is no way LaHair plays over Marlon Byrd. But he could spot start in corner OF spot if you need a lefthanded bat.

How many times have the reds made the playoffs since that WS?

1995, lost a one game playoff in 1999, and 2009.
