I think they should just make him a full time corner

quote:

Back in April, the Browns owned the No. 2 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, and they were widely expected to select the WR/DB and Heisman trophy winner Travis Hunter with that pick.

However, Browns GM Andrew Berry decided to go in a different direction.

The pick was traded to the Jaguars, along with a fourth-round pick (No. 104 overall), and a sixth-round pick (No. 200 overall), in exchange for their first-round pick (No. 5 overall), their second-round pick (No. 36 overall), a fourth-round pick (No. 126 overall), and a 2026 first-round pick.

The Jaguars went on to select Travis Hunter with that second pick, and the Browns took defensive tackle Mason Graham out of Michigan with the fifth pick.

Initial reactions to the trade were a mix of emotions, and that was fair, at the time, but through three games, this trade has looked like a slam dunk for the Browns.

Graham has fit right in with this amazing defensive line unit for the Browns and he will continue to get better. He was disruptive on Sunday against the Packers

Meanwhile Travis Hunter hasn’t gotten off to the start he was hoping for. Hunter has just 10 catches for 76 yards through three games, and 9 total tackles on defense.

The other names from this trade haven’t even been mentioned yet, and this trade already seems like a win for the Browns.

With the extra second-round pick that the Browns received, they selected Ohio State running back Quinshon Judkins. While he had his off the field drama this offseason, through two games, he has looked like the RB1 of the future for the Browns.

Jags are absolute idiots. Gave up two first rounders and a second rounder for a useless WR and a semi useless DB. Just use him as a fricking WR! Or even a DB. Part timing both isn’t the answer you idiots.

I wanted to start a thread on this but was too lazy to do the leg work, so thank you.

This two way thing was never going to work in the NFL. They gave up all that for a below average WR and average CB. They should just make him a full time CB and salvage something out of their wasted resources.

Steve Smith was saying he can’t run routes the way an NFL WR needs to be able.

I got into a huge argument with a friend who thought I was dumb for not taking him over Hampton in dynasty fantasy and that he was going to be a top WR.

It's early but it's pretty weird they traded all that and don't have a plan for him.

Just saw a stat today that Graham is winning 43% of his pass rushes. Average defensive tackle win rate in like 9%.

Even if Hunter was good this year, graham has been insane

They should at least start him in one place for 1-2 years until he becomes good at that position in the league. Then, once he's got his legs under him completely at that spot, add some snaps in accordingly.

Just let him be a shut down corner. That alone is worth gold to be able to eliminate the other teams best passing threat.

The learning curve is going to be steeper for a CB/WR than a DT. I'm dubious of his ability to play both ways and of the trade balance but it's still too early to point fingers here.

Some of these teams run seem to run shite like they are playing Madden where you can just randomly plug and play guys at will w/no issues.

Then they are always shocked that just throwing a guy to the wolves w/o even attempting to play to their strengths or develop their weaknesses doesn't yield instant good results.

Not much different than the college coach who signs a QB who is a killer runner and just average throwing but then tries to force them into being a pocket passer b/c changing their offense in any way to fit personnel is sacrilege.

I got into a big argument with someone before the draft that was saying he’s some generational prospect at corner or receiver. Saying he’s a better CB prospect than Stingley was lmaooooo. Hunter is the worst heisman in awhile. I think he could end up being a good corner but he’s not a receiver and likely never is anywhere near what Stingley is today.

Possibly, but let’s give him more than three games with one of the worst franchises in the NFL before passing judgment.

The Jags want to use their passing threats to open up the run for Etienne, who’s averaging 6 ypc. Their secondary is already elite and just shut down CJ stroud who torched them the last 2 years. The Jags are the clear favorite in their division, seems like the Hunter addition is working out perfectly on both sides of the ball, his personal stats be damned

“Targets” vs % of snaps seems like a misleading stat.

What % of plays is he on offense? I’m sure there are plenty of plays where he isn’t targeted. Just because he isn’t targeted doesn’t mean he isn’t making an impact. Defenses have to game plan for him & Brian Thomas Jr.

Yes. A WR getting 8 targets and then 6 targets is actually pretty good. TLaw just sucks and Hunter isn’t making anything out of it.

But yes dumb pick. He was never truly an elite prospect at either position

Trading away two first round picks to pick up him at #4 was dumb. He isn't good enough at either position individually to be picked that high. Only way to justify that trade/pick was if he could play both ways. He clearly can’t.

Go ahead and bet on Daniel Jones, let me know how that works out for you. File him with the Jets, Mets, Nets, Browns and Bengals

The Jaguars are only hurting themselves, I feel like, with this experiment. Is it really better to have a guy be an average WR, and an average CB, over a guy who can be elite at one of the other positions?

They should have forced Travis to pick a position starting out. Once he's mastered that position fully at the NFL level, then he can start getting snaps on the opposite side of the field.
